This morning Kai was able to go to the temple with her achievement day class. They left around 8:30, we were the last to arrive. Can you believe that?? It is a major shocker to me, I just can't believe that! :: umm... yeah right:: Seriously, we planned on starting off really early and then having siblings happened. One wanted to go with, another had a work out, what do we do with the other. Oh wait, Kai hasn't had breakfast! Crud, we do not have any cash. Who carries cash anymore these days? Had to get breakfast and cash for her. But, despite our drama she and the girls had a good time.
Here is a little story about Kai and the temple. When I was serving in the Young Women's presidency and then as the Enrichment leader I would drive the hour and half twice a month and sometimes more to go to the bookstore. I had to cart 2 children with me. Kai was 4 and Aden was 2 or slightly older. The Columbia temple is right across the street from the bookstore. The two of them had been rug rats at the bookstore and I was basically drained. I would always point out the temple to them and talk about Angel Moroni, on top and the children wanted a closer look. So, I drove them in the temple parking lot and decided I needed some strength to make it the rest of the drive home with these two ornery children. I parked the car and we were going to walk the temple grounds. Of course, as soon as I got them unbuckled from their car seats BOOM across the parking lot and to the sidewalk. I didn't want to yell at them to get back here. So, I quickly shut the door and followed them. They were gone, they were on the sidewalk and already had passed through the gates and disappeared. I got to the sidewalk and Kai comes back to me very quickly. I thought she was chastised by someone and I asked her, "What is wrong?"
She replied, "I have this funny feeling right here". She points to her chest. "what's wrong baby", I ask. "I feel funny, I feel all warm inside." "Aden and I stopped running". Aden is not far behind her and he comes to me a different child. His disposition changed and if anyone knew Aden as a baby, well... need I say more. I then realized that she felt the spirit or Heavenly Father's presence. She just felt overwhelmed and she could not put to words what she was feeling with her 4yr old vocabulary. I was touched and explained to her what and why she was feeling these things. We had a very pleasant ride home and that moment is one of the moments I will not forget. Children are so sensitive to the spirit.
