NEW YEARS EVE

It has been a long time tradition (8 years) for our family and Steve's family to spend New Year's eve together. We alternate homes. Two years ago we were in Atlanta because of our niece's wedding and we had fireworks galore. They guys practically burned down Cheryl's neighbors house across the street and fireworks were tipped over accidentally and sent everyone into a frenzy running. The year before we were at Gretchen's and it was so so cold but the boys managed to put on a spectacular show. It was beautiful that year and yes, true to tradition a neighbors home was almost set a fire and we only had to scatter once to avoid fireworks gone astray. This year Steve's family was coming back from spending time with their other cousins and we were traveling from spending time with our family that neither of us had time to stop and pick up some GREAT fireworks. WE were left with whatever was left at Walmart. (which wasn't much) My children were disappointed that they didn't get any non alcoholic champagne, which is also a tradition for them. Wally world was completely sold out! I did buy them some noisemakers and hats to ring in the New Year. Although, this year was different from traditions set before it was still so much fun to be with everyone. I had bought hot finger foods to be made but I guess we were too busy to make them. We also for the first time in years watched the ball drop and then we set fireworks off. Usually we are out celebrating with the rest of the fools when the clock strikes! I didn't feel quite like celebrating fully because my older two with Blake and Zach went to a youth party. I like celebrating big moments with my entire family. I could not go to bed until I knew my babies were home safe! They came strolling in at 4:30 am and I was able to rest. They were their to celebrate with us and then they left after. The children are just growing up too quickly. I am so going to miss them!

It was so fun. I am so glad for our tradition to be together. I did miss the older kids but I loved how they strolled in for the midnight kiss and fireworks then out again. I am so glad they felt like it was important to come back for those special moments!
My kids are already planning when to get together again!

I am too! they did come back or were there for our fireworks and kisses! I loved that too. We are looking at vacations for the children. I know Bill and Steve want to try out the T models.
