This post is just for Alice! I will have some pics of me on my bike with my helmet and my jacket. When Mr. Incredible and I were newly married he had bought a Honda CBR 600, WE enjoyed riding it all over Utah and through the canyons. I even was brave enough to drive the motorcycle all around the apartment complex and for a quick spin on the streets around the complex. Then we learned that I was prego and when it started getting uncomfortable to ride on the back of the bike it was time to sell. Mr. Incredible and I loved riding together and I was perfectly content to always be behind him. Riding double is NOT for everyone. In fact, I never ride anyone unless they are considerably lighter than I. I have driven my 2 younger children. Kai who was just under 90 pounds is uncomfortable for me to ride. I don't like to feel any shift of movement in my bike from the back end. Mr. Incredible back in Dec of 2004 had started looking at motorcycles. I knew a buy was in our near future because Mr. Incredible never browses or wastes time researching things unless his intent is to buy. He then started going to the local Honda stores. He found a HYABUSA which is the fastest rated stock street bike there was at the time to purchase. He asked me to go look at it. I loved it and was excited for him to get one. I then started hopping around on a bunch of bikes saying I want one blah blah blah. I get caught in the moment pretty easy. I even picked one out. A few days later he calls and asks if I want one. I said, NO, let's just get one and if I like riding again we can consider buying another in the summer. Valentine's Day comes and it is wet and raining outside. Mr. Incredible is at the Honda store buying his bike. He calls again and asks. I say, No don't get me one but just buy one for you. 9:30 pm comes and I hear Mr. Incredible's truck approaching our driveway. I look out the window and he has the trailer attatched with not one bike but TWO! and it is this brand new 2004 sparkling electric blue bike with chrome wheels all decked out. It was my Valentine's day present. I was excited but my heart sank slightly because this gift was just too expensive to let sit in the garage, like I did with the treadmill that was given 4 Christmas' ago. This meant I had to DO something. This meant that I HAD to LEARN how to ride and get a MOTORCYCLE license. Mr. Incredible is all about doing things with family. He never wants to do an activity alone or away from us. Hence, purchasing the 6 four wheelers two Christmas' prior. HE felt with 2 bikes we could be together and if we needed we could ride 2 of the children. Which we did when we took our bikes to Mexico Beach in Florida.
I have a personality where I will try it if I think it is fun I will give it a try. I also will do something if people say I can't do it. I can tell the most gruesome motorcycle stories with the best of them and it annoys me when people go on and on about them. Be polite tell your one story and move on. So many people out of the blue will just offer you their unsolicited advice and opinion about riding. DID I ASK? I mean, what's the purpose? Did they really think their opinion mattered to me? I am ok with a person not liking motorcycles or wanting to ever ride or own one. But, to influence and insult me I take issue with. I could see if they mattered to me. But, for total strangers or church members whom we have never had dinner with to give me their unsolicited advice, I get annoyed. Dinner means I cared enough to get to know you on a different level. Meaning a form of a friendship has started rather than just an acquaintance or friendly face I see.
I enrolled in a motorcycle drivers class and it was so fun and amazing. I earned my M class on my license and passed the driving and the written with flying colors.
I had to pick out a helmet and I am all about colors. I didn't care how cheap or how expensive the helmet was just as long as I thought it looked good. Of course, the helmet I found cost more than our mortgage payment. Then I had to find a jacket that matched my helmet. I truly wanted a pink helmet because I wanted people to know that the rider on this bike was in deed a CHICK! All of the ladies large jackets did not fit me. UGH! I needed to purchase a man's jacket. I found one that matched the stripe in my helmet. I rode a lot for me. But, I am a fair weather rider. I only ride on the most perfect days and it is hard to ride around town on a bike, unless I am just going for a joy ride or to work. You can't carry grocery bags on a cart, cart children to and fro or SHOP. Because there is no place to hold the bags. People at work loved the fact that I ride. I love riding. I get apprehensive about stopping or doing a tight turn. It comes with experience. I have not ridden my bike in almost a year. Warrior, my son, YES< GASPUH! I know, rides my bike a lot! I am not comfortable with this because it does not matter how careful you the rider is but you have to ride so defensively. Face it, it is you and the road. No metal in between. He is such a good rider. It comes to him naturally. He has had a go cart, 4 wheeler, etc since he was 6. I have chalked it up to there is no other rider I would rather have teaching Warrior and riding with Warrior than his DAD. I know riding together and their conversations afterward will only help him. Mr. Incredible rides as an adult. Probably, Warrior will continue to ride as an adult. (I hope not) But he most likely will. I take comfort in knowing that he is riding with experience by his side and getting experience than thinking that when he is 24 yrs. old he could be hopping on a bike with out anyone to teach him etc. (He would probably be married etc)
I do like my bike and I long to get back on it. I rode it a few months ago just to the store and back and I was cold! I love when Bill and I go out riding to the store or when we are on date night and stop at a restaurant. People always stare.
The longest I have ever ridden my bike at one time was for 2hours and it was uncomfortable. I may have extra padding but it didn't matter.

I am loving this "e 0 mai" song...it has such a calming affect.
WOW - I am so impressed with your husband's ability to get an AWESOME gift for his wife...HOW COOL!
I have always had a dream of owning a Harley, but i have to admit I would be a little afraid to drive it..I am more of the kind of girl to be on the back.
Thanks for answering my question..I had a feeling that you were serious when you said you would have to start driving your motorcycle...you are MY kind of gal!
I was always a crotch rocket kind of girl but I love love this hybrid motorcycle. It is called the M109 and it is a cross between a sport bike and a cruiser! It is SHWEET! It is a very heavy bike but because of its center of gravity, even I can maneuver it. I am more that type of rider. If I rode my bike more. I could justify trading it in and spending more money on it.
