I walked with God. I woke and thanked him for another beautiful day. Another day to erase the wrongs of yesterday and create moments for today. We all woke safe and sound and ready to approach the tasks and challenges that the morning brought.
I had a visiting teaching appointment scheduled. My phone rang and on the other end I heard the sweetest purest voice, beckoning my name. "Goose, are you coming?"
"Yes, it's only 10:00 our appointment is for 10:30."
"No...no..."
"Ok, not a problem. I can be there in six minutes."
Six short minutes, 360 short seconds was all it took for me to walk and talk with God. We spent the entire day without pretense and without one word of negativity. We had conversations about politics, school, prejudices, acceptance.
Each time I looked upon her face I felt happiness and hope. I observed her dealings with others. She was never curt always kind even when others judged the color of her skin or the accent in her speech. She may speak with an accent but she does not think with an accent. "A walk in the Clouds". I love that movie.
I was enlightened. I was better for being in her presence. She has so little but has so much. I went home thinking I have way too many things. I have been given much. I have squandered much. I am frivolous and I am ungrateful.
She has so much gratitude and grace that it is hard for one to be in her presence without feeling exuberance and gratitude. There are few people in the world that you will come across that can propell and motivate you to be better, to try a little harder to be a more gracious. I felt pure acceptance. There is a song where the lyrics are, "I realize your taking me as I am. The song is AS I AM by Dan Cahoon. I love it! It was the EFY Greatest gift 2006 CD!
I have had the privilledge of knowing and encountering a few very special people like this sweet sister. I have been blessed to know a few choice souls.
Is there someone in your life that you know that it is clear His image is in their countenance? Who do you know that can make you feel this way? Complete acceptance! Taking you as you are and encouraging you to become what you can be? Someone who's light shines through their pores.

I loved this post. I saw it before but it wouldn't let me comment!
Yes, I do know that feeling. There are people among us that bless us and make our lives better for being in it.
I loved your experience and thanks for sharing and reminding me to pay more attention to those times.
Hey Cuz,
Kay first of all I wanted to say much MAHALO'Z for the baby gift, that was very kind of you and the family. Of course you know how the Ha-Y-N blood runs cause my daugher basically fits the outfit already! :) I know I could've written but I wanted to email/blog you first cause I know it would be quicker for me, atleast for now.
I have to admit and it's sad because it's during sacrament especially when I reflect back on the good & bad things that I've done/gone through. It's those times when I look at, "wow, there really are kind and sincere people out there!"
What a beautiful post. Yes, there are people who truly let their light shine and illuminates our lives with their goodness and example. Do you know that you've done that through your blog? I think so.
What a beautiful sister. I have been in a situation before like that. Don't you just relish the learning that is present at the time? Just so much to take in but overcome with the joy of contentment.
My sister is probably my person that I can just be myself. She knows me and loves me still. It is an honor to have her in my life. But I am inspired daily by little things from others. Like this post, totally makes me smile Goose.
this is wonderful!!! ♥
and yes. i know a woman or two that fit that description. i hope one day someone will be able to say that about me.
I love those kind of invigorating visits. What a blessing to have such a sweet woman to VT.
I've also had the chance to know a few people like this. I don't think I'll EVER be that person but I can certainly enjoy it when I am with those who are.
What a Beautiful post. That is such a sweet thing to say about her. I bet she would be honored if she knew you wrote this.
My close friend Cindy is like that to me. She is just amazing.
Such a good post. I really want to be that kind of person. I've had so many examples of women and men like this in my life. You feel warmed and taller by even a few minutes with them. Wonderful!!
How awesome! Thanks for sharing :) ♥ Hugs!
What a GREAT post!! I know several people like that--one being my mother and then there are several in my ward family.
What a great testimony of VT. I too am blessed to have had women like that placed in the path of my life.
Yep. I had a friend in my ward and her mother lived in the ward as well. She always exuded peace and happiness though her life was not all roses and sunshine. People thought it was from the way she lived her life but come to find out she had some ROUGH stuff happen to her.
Now she's my angel friend in heaven and I hope she's puttin' in a good word for me!!
That is exactly how I feel everyday in the presence of the people I keep around me...and most of that I can thank to being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints! Awesome post! :)
What a great post :)
I had a friend once, but she has moved. I hope to visit her someday. Thanks for the post. m
What a great reminder to be the best you can be..You never know what an example you are to those around you.
A great message from someone who is changing lives by her sweet comments and posts..
Thanks Mother Goose!!
That is so beautiful...thank you!
Beautiful post!
Lovely post. I do have such people in my life. One of which is my Best Friend H, you may have heard me speak of her before. She has shown me many times the example of compassion, brotherly love, forgiveness, long suffering, turning the other cheek, and unconditional love. I often feel I have so much work to do, but I know that she loves me anyway, just the way I am.
*hugs*
Truly beautiful post. We should all be so lucky to have someone like that in our lives.
I have been thinking about what you wrote on my "should I quit my second job that I don't want" post.
I have been thinking about the family that could not take care of itself once the mother died.
Thanks for that. I do make my kids work, but maybe not enough. That is changing. They are not so pleased with your comment, but I am! thanks, m
I have something for you at my blog!!!!
i love this post!!! I do know people like this - I can think of someone in particular, and am so very very grateful for her example!

I've missed you Goose...it was fun to catch up with your posts...you've been rockin' the posts girl!
Just beautiful! Left me pondering on some wonderful people who have been set such great examples of how happy we can be if we but first choose to fallow Chirst example.
HI, Just wanted to say thanks for commenting about your moral compass. I love your comment! That was so right now!
If we all treated each other that way, there would be much more compassion and love in the world.
MG for President! m
O.k you seriously need to be a writer! You are a poet with words! Awesome!
I used to VT someone just like that! That was years and years ago but it still propels me in my VTing.
I LOVE people like that. I try to surround myself with positive people that help me be a better person. Whether it's spiritually, organization, parenting... I love learning from those around me and being inspired.
What a great experience you had! There is a bloggy award for ya over at the farm!
