12 Days of Christmas

I had a photo session yesterday afternoon and got home around 6pm. Mr. Incredible and I were like passing vessels in the dark. As I entered our warm home, the smell of something delish enveloped all around me! Mmmmmm.... he was on his way out the door very quickly. The missionaries called him last minute to go visit a family. Dash and Sweetheart were outside playing in the dark. They had dinner and played until 9pm. They quickly came inside and we read from the Book of Mormon, one of my most favorite books, said evening prayers and Dash was ushered upstairs to quickly take a shower before retiring to bed. He was naked about to step into the shower and the door bell rings! He believes its one of his friends. Sweetheart shouts, "I have a dog", and I do not move one muscle because when it's after 9pm, I really don't wish to see any of Dash's friends. Dash rushes down the stairs in nothing but a towel.

Sweetheart, Kekoa and Beauty rush to the door open it and scream! Panic rushes through my body as I realize, "OH CRAP, someone has come to visit and our house is a mess!"

TWO large boxes wrapped in Christmas paper sit at our front door. Stunned and shocked we three just stare at it a bit, quickly look for the perpetrator and then Sweetheart yells, THANK YOU and we quickly carry both boxes inside!

Guess what?? It had a song attatched to it also!

Beauty begins singing and she gets to Fiiiiiive paper bills! It processes for her and she stops singing and immediately looks to the box! She's like $5, yes we can all go to McDonald's and get something from the dollar menu! She didn't find it so she continued to sing the rest of the song. Sweetheart found the envelope and passed it to me! I figured it was $5 also and put it in my pocket. WE enjoyed the contents of the boxes! We ravished through it like it was Christmas morning! It sounded like it was Christmas morning and I was so touched and grateful for the Christmas Angels that thought of our family.

I've been a bit weepy lately but it made me sad and happy at the same time to see my 3 children going crazy over cereal!! I may or may not have heard, "YES, it's not Aldi's". They have never once complained about the food they have been eating. Never have they asked for a particular item but each of them said, they were waking up extra early to have time to eat cereal! ::Lucky charms, frosted flakes, pops, coco puffs, captain crunch and raisin brand crunch:: Each of these were someone's favorite cereal! (Simply amazing)

There were bags of snickers, nestle crunch, mm's and reeses Christmas candy. I can't say there were any reeses left when the dawn came. I was left amazed that my children had missed chocolate and were so appreciative over the simple small things. I had not known they had missed these things. (Halloween was only a few months ago)

And how would anyone know that moments prior someone was upstairs yelling for some toilet paper, and who knew that I was wishing we had ordered oranges and a ham on our church food order?? Again, another sweet tender mercies from above where simple wants and desires of the heart are instantly answered.
I had wished that Mr. Incredible was home to feast upon the sounds of joy that had come from our home and although, I had thought we were a fairly happy family, I too had realized I hadn't heard that true happiness in quite sometime. When all was quiet I opened the envelope that had scrawled on it, 5 PAPER BILLS and fell to my knees in gratitude and shared with my children that in deed there were 5 paper bills inside but not one of them were the expected $1 but were in a higher $ amount and the feeling of the house changed from excited joy to humbled reverance.

I'm almost 100% sure that this was from someone in our ward. I'm not sure if they even read my blog but I am 100% sure that the Solomon family is truly grateful and touched by your generosity, love and kindness! I wonder if you knew about the cereal boxes and about the candy that they were favorites in this house hold.

So, I share this with anyone who may know of a family or person who might need some extra help and encourage you to bless the lives of those around you, and be an answer to someone's prayers. God uses each of us to answer the prayers of others! I can't wait to share the joy with another family when we are able to give again.

Goose, that's incredible. So many people love and want to ease these hard times for you -- I'm glad that you were thankful and not resentful.

p.s. I'd be excited about that cereal and candy, too!!

our orayers were answered today, also. An envelope showed up at my parents home, for us... with a few "bills" as well. The Lord knows our needs and fullfills them through others. Read 1 Nephi 17, 3 & 13. It is where we are both at! Even though I don't know you, I know you!

I'm crying too! If my Hubs lost his job we'd very quickly be in a world of hurt. As a family, we decided that this season we were going to help the 'temporarily struggling' rather than the chronic poor. We've been blessed to be able to do more than we have been able to do in the past even though things are really tight around here too.

I'm so grateful that your ward family is looking out for you. Some beautiful lessons were taught through this gift to both their family AND yours. Through this trial your kids are learning to appreciate the small things in life. THAT alone will be worth all this struggle you're going throgh long term. That lesson will stay with them and improve their satisfaction with their own lives long after they can take brand-name cereal for granted again. Hang in there!

What a fun thing and a blessing to find on your porch. We did this once for someone and got caught. That kind of sucked, but they were still appreciative.

Waaaa! I'm crying here. I know how much that means and I'm so glad some family did that for you. IT's amazing what we take for granted every day of our lives and then one day....we relish the idea of our fav treat or cereal. mine right now is our Charmin ultra...so soft and strong and having 8 of us + friends that come over and stay often...we use a lot. TMI, I know but it's something I wish I had the guts to tell everyone that's what I want. Seriously, just some good (not cheap, paper thin) TP. Our priorities have SO changed in the last year.

You are definitely blessed!! I wish the person I blogged about was a member of our church. I've been trying to figure out how to contact someone where he lives to help him. But I don't know his street address.
