Our Home in Missouri

We narrowed our choices down to three homes. Our first choice was a home that we found on our very first visit. It was beautiful. It was new and boasted close to 3800 sq. feet not including the full basement. It was in the perfect neighborhood, the perfect setting and had a hot tub and a beautiful pool. The scene was pituresque. PROBLEM: the home was already under contract! I WANT THAT HOUSE! I hoped and hoped that the couple's contract would fall through and I could grab her. NO SUCH LUCK! Good bye my Clarkson Valley Home.

It came down to Kevin's home. His home was close to 4,000sqft and had a full unfinished basement. Very new and felt mansion like as far as its architecture. I loved it. I felt uncomfortable in it because of its grandness. I'm a woman who likes choices. I need a choice. I started to fret. I began to worry about Kekoa. Could I keep this home so pristine? Was I pristine? Although, I loved the grandeur of the home, was I willing to live that life style? Dave Ramsey tells me I'm not ready and so did my heart.

As soon as I landed in Charlotte I searched day and night for other homes. I became obsessed and then finally frustated. Until I clicked on this home.

It was older. Almost 30 years. It had been renovated and it had a certain Texas charm. It had been on the market for over a year. It had it's price had been reduced drastically! It was worth an inquiry. We emailed the owner and phoned her back and forth. It's a blessing how this home came to us. She had taken it off the market. She asked how I found her home. I didn't know exactly. I'm just glad I did. I now had a choice. Robin's home.

After the pictures she sent I was SOLD! It had beaten Kevin's home, which was no small feat. I found it, it was large, it offered land, it offered a place for photography and a little garden, it was big enough and lived in enough where I could say "Welcome, come on in and let's kick it!" We wouldn't be on top of each other. THREE major draw backs for me, I wanted a two story, I wanted to be in a neighborhood, and the most important I wanted a GAS STOVE!!!

The family flew out to Missouri Valentine's Day weekend. We had a wonderful weekend ate well and stayed in TWO HOTELS, and swam! I love life on the road when it is spent like that. Expenses paid through work for moving visit! SUPER SAWEET!

The children viewed both homes. Loved them both but chose Kevin's home. We then knew it would come down to the ward. Sunday came and we attended both wards.

We attended Robin's home ward boundaries first. I had pricklies out. Oh the building is older, the ward is smaller, etc. The Bishop spoke. As he spoke my heart was softend and I felt the spirit so much that I cried. They truly look after one another. He spoke about the city of Enoch. I think a good sign of a good ward is one where the Elders Quorum has a high precentage of Home Teaching and you know what? they do! WE all felt like we had always been a part of that ward and that we would seamlessly fit in! An amazing spirit dwelt there. We all felt it. I was literally moved to tears and had a confirmation that this was where we should be. Mr. Incredible too. My daughters went to YW and they felt it too. They loved it, they were invited to an impromptu party later that night. The YW had told her they were praying for MiaMaids and she came. They had prayed and fasted for Young Men, and now they have them. Pretty cool of the youth to excercise their faith in that manner. As we left we said we had to go to the other ward and many times each person had said, "this is the ward you want to be in, it's our ward."

The second ward we went too, after coming off of a spiritual high was a bit disappointing. This was the ward Kevin's house was in. I wanted to give them every shot. I closed my eyes. I wanted to feel the same feeling in sacrament. No one did. We tried. We stayed for Sunday School. It was harder definitely a good ward too, but by the end of class we were all ready to leave. We gathered together and heard everyone's thoughts and offered a prayer of our decision and quickly called, Robin to tell her that it was her home we had all decided on, or rather her ward.

GUESS WHAT? The Bishop has already called us, after their ward temple trip and was excited to hear that we are moving to their ward. Mr. I, said we would move on a Monday and instead of hearing, that's family home evening night, that's a hard night to get people out on, he said this, "Saturday, Sunday, Monday whatever day it is we will be there and you'll probably have meals too! WE look forward to serving full speed when we move.

WE move in FIVE DAYS! To view pics of the house, GO HERE!

So incredibly happy for your family! We live in a ward like that right now, and had a similar experience when we moved here. My husband did not want to buy the house in this ward-he hated it! After visiting the ward (and being invited to dinner that first day) we all knew it was the right place. It is such a blessing when we seek to know where the Lord would have us be, and then follow his direction. LOVE that you are so excited about this move-hope it carries you through the hard parts!

Goose, that house is fantastic!!!! And I love that you left the majority of your decision up to the wards -- very smart. Sounds like this is where you guys are meant to be. Hope it all goes through problem-free!!!

Don't you love it when the Lord bonks you on the head! I LOVE!!! your new house. Girl, it looks enough like a mansion to me. I would need a maid to keep that thing clean! Sigh, If you couldn't move to M'Boro, I am glad you found an awesome ward there.
