TwEET TWEET.. a lesson from the birds

I tend to wear different colored glasses than everyone else. I tend to dance to my own beat and I'm ok with dancing alone, but it is so much more fun when you have another crazy next you. Recently, I had listened to a woman complain about the birds that chirped each morning outside her bedroom window. She was really upset with it. I get easily annoyed at many things, so I get it. But, if I specifically put things into perspective usually my annoyance goes away quickly. Perspective is everything!
We have dealt with the early early morning chirpings of a family of birds who choose to move into our porch every season, for the past 9 or 10 years. Some find their tweeting abbrassive and aggravating. I don't.

I happen to love this! I love how happy those little tweets are. I did say TWEETS and not twits! . We should all awake tweeting, tweeting out our own praises of another day to live, another day to try better, to do better. Each morning with the sun rise their tweeting begins. I imagine their tweets are prayers or praises for another glorious day and thankful they made it safely through the still of the night.

I know inside the nest awaits 4 new hatchlings. Chirping loudly for their mama or papa bird to come feed them. We want to eat, and within minutes my own little hatchlings are tweeting or twittering that they too are hungry and want to eat! ::sigh::

Perspective. Instead of being angry and annoyed I look at it and am honored that they have chosen our house and our post to give them refuge and to start their family. Our home offers a refuge from the world and the elements of nature.

How ironic, because within the walls of our home, offers the same. I want my little chirpers to awake every morning excited to face a new day. Excited that they live here, EXCITED that we are there parents and EXCITED that they chose us! When on occassion they grumble and why they wonder why I'm their mother or their brother is their brother and their sister their sister. I just smile and say, "you'll have to ask God that question."

I want them to feel protected, loved and safe in these walls. I want my home to offer that refuge. And like the birds in the nest. The crap and all the other stuff stays outside of our nest. Our nest is a refuge. It offers rejuvenation. It offers love and security.

I'm not always pleased with the mess that I have to clean up on our porch the constant bird droppings and the dirty pine needles but it must be done.

A lot can be learn from watching how birds tend to their homes and their young. Two birds both taking care of their young. Constantly tending and cleaning out their nest, so their nest will be a comfortable place to be. A place where they will want to be.

Each time I spray the nasties off my porch. I think to myself what nasties are we leaving outside our door. What nasties may be coming into our home. Sometimes, it is actual physical nasties, like dirt, trash and left overs but other times the nasties are words, unkind deeds, selfishness, and actions or things brought into our home either from media or computers.

It would do well to take a lesson from the birds. How they wake each morning and sing their praises. How I should sing my praises. How they feed and tend to their young, and how they tend to their homes!

Great Post! I think that we all could use a lesson in turning some things that are maybe unpleasant to us into something we can be grateful for. We have so many blessings and we fall short of acknowledging them all, on a daily basis.
Birds chirping are the sweetest sound and I would rather wake up to that than something really unpleasant - the alternative is often worse and we have to remember that.
I love your bright perspective!!

I love the perspective that you have on your birds. We used to live in a beautiful home that always had very loud geese. They were very annoying and when we moved, we thought how much we missed those loud geese.
