WE HAVE A CALL

Warrior has been called to serve in the California Roseville Mission! It is northern California and very beautiful! Me, being Internet savvy and came across the official blog site for his mission! Look where Warrior has the privilege of serving!
CLICK IT!

This is a wonderful site for where he is will be serving! This Mission blog gives all the information about Roseville! Please find out more here.
Did you know that they have their own logo, mission song and band? ::nods head: Yep! They do, it can be found HERE, HERE and HERE!

Does it not look like the most spiritual, fun and uplifting mission ever! I'm so excited for him. I'm sure you can't tell. One last LINK I promise! But click on this link, and check out HOW CUTE Warrior's mission President's family is! click on their pic and enlarge! I mean I love a woman who color co-ordinates her entire family, I'm assuming placed the daughter in laws in white shirts and who made their grand daughters cute amazing dresses?? I think I'm developing a bit of a blog crush on Sister Pendleton.
He will be serving English speaking for now and will be required to have a good sturdy bike.
I asked him if he was disappointed that he wasn't called to serve a foreign mission. He said no, "It's not where you serve but how you serve." Umm.. yeah, I feel like a heel! I think at times we may set our children up for disappointment by speaking too much of WHERE they serve and not how they serve.
I am tickled pink that he is state side. The country let alone the world is in a vicarious state. The Mr's family has a voodoo hex on state side missions. Prior to receiving his mission call, while we were touring Nauvoo he said that he would break that hex, if he were called state side!
Well, valiant Warrior it seems it is your call to break that hex and serve well.

I want you to know that I will worry less about you. Because I know you are on America's soil. I know danger can come and may come but knowing that you aren't far from me offers my crazy mind peace and my heart comfort.

Your patriarchal blessing offers insight to why you were called where you are. If it isn't for spreading the gospel it most definitely is because your companions. We love you, we are so proud of you. We expect nothing but the best from you. You have been called now it's time to go forward in faith. Serving an honorable mission will give you life experiences like no other. Experiences that will help you in your decisions in marriage, career and future church callings. Love you! September 8th he will report to the MTC and our family will be there to see you off, UTAH HERE WE COME!!

I'm very impressed with the blog all about your son's mission. It's amazing actually. The Pendleton family photo is darling. The mission band is hilarious singing that song about Sister Pendleton.

I'm happy for your son to serve in the states as well. Congratulations Warrior! Missions are tough but you will have the Lord on your side.

Awesome! He will be in great hands. Ours turns 19 in March, and I am crossing my fingers that a mission is still on his plate. There are times I wonder...

How exciting! One of my good friends from high school lives just north in Nevada City. I think it's like 45 mins away. It's gorgeous there. I'll have to tell her about Warrior.

I hope all Mission Presidents and their wives are cool. Kass loves his. He's written little notes. I don't know if it is the same everywhere but Kass has lived with members. Their companionship have a room and kitchen and such privileges. The first family he lived with in KS came through Utah and stopped and met us. They hadn't know his first name in all that time but saw some pics of him on the wall and knew it when they left. I'm so excited for you. It goes by fast and they are usually happy.

Oh, yeah. We will be HAPPY to have you in Utah!! I forget not everyone lives 3 hours away with all of Kass' friends leaving.

Hi, I am Tammy's friend who lives in this mission. He will love it!! We actually live in Nevada City and every missionary who is here doesn't want to leave. So funny what you said about Sis. Pendleton. I haven't looked at the links yet, but I know her in person and they are the most awesome couple!! I was going to tell you he would have the best mission pres even before I read what you said about him. It seems like he has been here awhile though. We will keep our eyes out for Elder Solomon and hopefully he makes it up to our neck of the woods. If you have any questions or anything don't hesitate to ask me.

Oh my goodness I am so excited for you. I can't believe what a small world we live in. You may not remember me but I tagged you when I was on my mission in Ukraine. Kind of freaked you out since you didn't know me. Well guess what, were home now and live about 20 minutes from Roseville. What a small world. I am happy for your son. Congratulations he's right about it not mattering where you serve but HOW. He'll be great. I'll keep my eye out when I'm cruisin in Roseville and I promise if I see him I'll stop and say HI.

I am proud of him for being willing to serve. Honestly, whether he comes home early or not, I'm proud of ANYONE who chooses to serve under what are always challenging circumstances. I hope he will learn and grow and mature in his faith and manhood as a result. Congratulations to the whole family!

WIFE's COMMENT:
Though you did not mention any names, it is quite obvious who you are referring to as possessing the "voodoo-hex." Now that he has offered his two cents, I, as the wife, would like to offer my two cents regarding the "voodoo-hex.”

I feel your comments are grossly inappropriate under the circumstances. The post is supposed to be centered on your son, who is going to spread the message of Jesus Christ. Having said that, it is important to remember the fundamental message Jesus Christ presents to the world. That message is the gift of forgiveness and atonement for ones’ transgressions. His message does not condone or pacify ones’ sins; however, it offers a means to move on and learn from mistakes of the past. It does not mean one will never err again, but rather, it implies that once the atonement process is complete, those who have truly atoned will have a renewed desire to follow the teachings of the Gospel. The final promise of the atonement is given is Hebrews 10:17 (as well as many other places) as “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” This scripture speaks for itself and cements the knowledge that it is possible to be completely forgiven for ones’ transgressions.

The purpose of the material above is to point out that it is not conducive to our role as Christians to continuously pour salt on the wounds of those who have fallen. It is not our place to judge or make brash statements because we are all imperfect and at some point in our lives, we all fall short of the glory of God. After all, if the Lord has decided to "remember no more," why shouldn't we?

I so agree with WIFE's comment about the atonement! definitely wasn't even pointing out your husband. I was actually referring to others. You are have no right to tell me what this POST is suppose to be centered on. It's my blog. I write as I wish. Just sayin'....

MOTHER's COMMENT:

have written this several times, this has been a hurtful post for the "Mr.s" side of the FAMILY. Coming home early from a mission is a hard, emotional, spiritual experience. I would never call it a "hex". THere is no hex to be broken. I realize that sometimes until we have walked in someone else's shoes we don't understand or feel what they feel and therby can be insensitive in our words. Most all missionaries go out with a desire to stay for 24 months and to be the best. ALL missionaries go through hard, struggling times and that is why I continue to pray for those who are serving. I have two sons who I love very much and who I admire and respect. One stayed 24 months the other a shorter time, They have learned from their experiences and have become men.

MY COMMENT: I am sorry that this post has been hurtful to you and your family. It was not singling or pointing you out at all. I agree with everything you have said. It is tough, it is hard, the adversary works on all sides both before, during and after a mission. I know he likes to work on me.

THE ONE:
It's been great reading all of these blogs. The part about the voodoo hex is my favorite. I guess I(________) would be part of this hex you speak of. Although I would explain it that way. I cannot speak for the others in my family that have had the same experience I have. I feel I am a better man for what I did. I actually had the courage unlike many of these young men these days to realize I did not live the principals that I was out preaching. I decided not to stay and be a hypocrite no matter what other may say or think of me. Call it what you want.

I appreciate your comments especially. I know that each of us are given trials. To some it is another. No matter what the circumstance or the trial it shows true character of how we deal after the trial.
I wasn't referring to you. I echo Warrior's words, "It's not where you serve but how you serve. Service continues whether on a mission or not.
WE can all continue to serve once we return. By serving others, church callings, temple attendance, temple marriage and rearing our children in the gospel.
I love the reminder of the atonement so eloquently written by your other half!
It did take courage to do what you did. It takes courage to stand true to who you are. It takes courage to say no and to walk away. Thank you for those reminders.

My Comment:
It may be fruitless to point this out at this point, but the title of your post is “We Have a Call.” There is a large picture of your son at the top of your post and the first sentence reads “Warrior has been called to serve in the California Roseville Mission.” Maybe I’m missing something, but all indications are that your post was going to be about your son leaving to serve his mission. I merely suggested that as part of his mission, which I assumed your post to be about based on the title of the post, the large picture of your son at the top and the first sentence as reiterated above, he will be responsible for spreading the message of Jesus Christ.
I was not attempting to tell you what the post is supposed to be centered on. I gathered that information entirely from your words.

tiki_lady said...

I find it peculiar off of the entire post you speak of TWO sentences only. I realize that people glean what they choose to glean from the things they read. Be well. I choose to contend no longer in regards to this post.
