Dash

I know Dash was feeling a bit neglected after reading 4 posts 2 posts each about each of his sisters. The primary was due to step up and ask parents to share which person in the scriptures does your child most remind you of! Our dear son, was so negative, he was mentioning Laman, Lemuel, etc. I thought, how sad! Honey, we are all Laman and Lemuel's how many times has each of us murmured about our own situations and how many times have we each seen God's hand bless our lives and then we quickly forget? NO dear one, those two brothers didn't once cross my mind when I was to think who you reminded me of. My problem was narrowing it down to one person. The Old Testament the New Testament the Book of Mormon there were so many stories and examples that came to mind.

The story that your dad and I chose was that of the 2000 Stripling Warriors and Captain Moroni.
Alma 53:20-21
"And they were all young men, and they were exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but behold, this was not all-they were men who were tre ata ll time in whatsoever soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of Goda nd to walk uprightly before him".Dash you have been taught. You have had the great privillege to have been born into our family as the 4th child and the youngest. You have had the blessing of being born into a strong and faithful family. Our family was not always the best at doing things but by the time you came blessed our lives we had experienced many great blessings and miracles and little did we know that the blessings and miracles God was waiting to bestow upon us centered around your birth!

Our family has witnessed many testimony building and unshakeable witnesses that Jesus is the Christ and that God, the father truly does know and answer prayers. And those experiences were a direct result of your tender life and as you continued to grow.

"The 2,000 stripling warriors also can accurately be characterized as steadfast and immovable. Many young women and men in the Church today are blessed with spiritual strength and courage equal to or greater than that exemplified by Captain Moroni or the stripling warriors."

You have always been a very strong willed and physically strong little boy. I would sometimes question myself as a mother, and how I was rearing you. You were so different than your siblings. I knew that your strong will could be a posititive attribute or if ruled too harshly, it could be a very negative attribute as well. It would take much faith and prayer to know how we should parent you. We needed to guide you in righteousness and not force you down that path. We as parents needed to exemplify and show you through consistency faith, and good works. We knew that family prayer, family scripture study, weekly church activities and Sunday attendance would be not just expected but crucial. Family home evening would be essential. Because of you we have been strengthened and better.

Alma 56:45 "And now I say unto you, my beloved brother Moroni, that never had I seen so great courage, nay not amongst all the Nephites".Dash, you are courageous. You are a fighter and you are a defender of truth. You are only 10 years old and still learning what your full potential is. Be steadfast and immovable. A person who is steadfast and immovable is solid, firm, resolute, firmly secured, and incapable of being diverted from a primary purpose or mission. We love you and are so proud of the choices and decisions that you have made thus far in your journey.
