THRIFY FIFTY!

This is becoming my most favorite go to lens. The reason why this is called the thrifty fifty is because it is the most affordable lens out there. It is a 50mm 2.8, and it sells for under $100. The lens that I have is the 50mm 1.8 and it runs about $50 more than the fixed 2.8. With this type of lens it allows the optimum amount of light in. If you read pioneer woman she shoots with a lens very similar because she DOES NOT and WILL NOT shoot using a flash. The pictures taken in the blog titled Toothless Wonder were also taken with this lens. I feel most comfortable with my huge bulky 200mm fixed 2.8 lens. It is a lens used for sports but I tend to use it for portraits and pictures. I love that I can blur out the background. Bill had bought me maybe a year ago or so the 50mm. I didn't ask for it, so things that I don't ask for usually tend to sit for a year before I really hunker down and play with it and love it. I am TOTALLY KICKING MYSELF for not getting to know this lens or camera sooner! When Bill bought me my Nikon D70, I pouted like a spoiled little brat and didn't touch my camera for a year. I wanted a cannon because I liked Gretchen's and the wheel that cannon puts on the back. silly huh, just for a wheel? I absolutely love my Nikon and am so glad and thankful he bought and chose this for me. Maybe, less than a year later Bill upgraded my camera. Mostly because I had prom pictures and another request and perhaps a game and my D70 was getting fixed or in for a cleaning. So, I received the D200! Much more camera than I need but the clarity and sharpness and speed is so much better not to mention the larger LCD screen on the back. Most of the pictures for the blog have been shot with the D70 because it is smaller and just my go to camera. For sports or sittings I will pull out the D200. I am trying to keep my blog rating out of the R rating and have avoided saying the word Shoot. But, I figure too bad! I shoot pictures. I have picture shoots. that is what I call it and I may even go to a XXX rating. LOL,
Anyway, here are some practice pictures of Kekoa. Notice how sharp he is and how the background is blurred. I did not edit for color etc. SOOC (straight out of camera) I can't wait to take this lens out and trying different angles and views.
