ANCIENT HISTORY

While visiting my parents. I used a clothes line to hang our towels and bathing suits. It was located in the same spot 30 years ago when it was my blessed chore to hang or gather the clothes off the line. In the 19 yrs. that I have been married I have never had a clothes line. Mostly, because apartments forbid them and my HOA, forbids clothes lines as well. I MISS having a clothes line. These things are ancient history to me. As ancient as an 8 track, a record player.

I was visiting a blog and in a picture she had a phone hanging on her wall. No big deal, right? Many of us have a phone hanging on our wall. What surprised me was I saw CORD hanging. These are so rare to see. I have one of these stored in my emergency kit.

I started thinking, a dangerous past time, I know. What is the oldest thing that we have in our home? My first thought was Mr. Incredible. He didn't think that was funny. He was quick to point out that there was something older in this house than 40 yrs. (like the dust) HARDY HAR HAR! But, no chance buster. This house is barely 11yrs old. He tries to be so FUN-NAY!

He reminded me that we have a few peices of furniture from the art deco period. About 1820 or so. Let's face it. I still have towels that were given to us as wedding gifts and most of the things in our home have been gifted to us.
Here is a picture of the oldest thing in our home. If you look really carefully you may get a glimpse of 11 yr. old dust. But, if you see that I will have to charge you a finders fee.

This IS the oldest thing in our home. I looked really hard for something awesome or maybe even funny to share. But NO GO!

I love stuff like that. Did you find that at an antique store or was it in your family? Just wanted to let you know that we have moved... our new blog address is http://bryanandsarah.blogspot.com or you can probably just click on our name.

Not any old things here, just old school people, we never had a computer in our home untill last year, husband thought they did no good, now he can't stay away from craigslist. Now I say no good, from all the wierd things he finds on it.

I love clothes lines. I haven't really had one for years either. I miss that smell on fresh hung sheets. Umm...Funny because my boss still has the phone on the wall with the really long cord. It cracks me up. I think I can reach everywhere in that house. That is how long that cord is.

The oldest thing in the house that you own is beautiful. And I would say the 2nd oldest thing in the house is pretty handsome. ;)

Fun post. I will have to think what I have that would be the oldest thing.

I found your blog from someone else's. Wow! Very inspiring! And your quote from President Hinckley helps me not to feel so guilty about taking time to blog when I know how much more I could be getting done around the house. Thank you!

I found your blog link on someone's blog, I decided to "visit" and I'm glad I did. Very nice post. I grew up in a tropical country so I know all about clotheslines. Yes, it does seem like a really old thing to me too after using a dryer for 20+ years now. Anyway--
You have a very good looking family. By the looks and tone of your blog you seem to be a very fun & upbeat person. I hope it's okay to visit again.

Very nice cabinet. The oldest thing we have is a journal from one of Todd's ancestors. It's pretty amazing.

AS the owner of the corded phone, I would like to say "huff" and toss my hot rolled hair at you. I am off now to type on my typewriter and then drink some Tab.

Gorgeous!

It's funny about clothes lines. Down here in SE TX our clothes would mold before they dried! Like for real, no jokin'.

Katie's comment made me lol. I've been telling Sean that I want a clothes line! I love that hutch. The oldest thing I have in my house is I think my sewing machine and desk. My step grandma bought it in 1976, I still use it all of the time. Good ole' Bernina. No, I lie. I have a small collection of old church books. I have an 1873 Book of Mormon in Finish (I think) I don't know because I don't speak anything other than English. This is a fun post. I might have to copy you! Oh no!! I just glanced to my right and saw COCONUT FRENCHTOAST! I'm hungry and that doesn't sound like it sucks right now. YOU in trouble!!

I like your old furniture...can't wait to purchase some antiques.

And Mr. Incredible and LG must get together with that funny sarcastic yet not rude sense of humor.
