My Halloween Loot

**UPDATE** My Hawaiian Princess did not make Freshman Princess. The count was close. I think I should demand a re-count. LOL! She said when it was announced over the speaker she heard the other classes in her hall respond with shock. She said, when she heard it, she exclaimed, "WHAT?" and then quickly put her game face on. roflrol
Yesterday we had talked about the Emmy Award losers truly being the best actors. The camera pans in on them as they announce the winners and there they are sitting, smiling and clapping for joy. All along thinking "I should have won that, I am so much better". Don't you just wish you could hear what their true inner thoughts are?

Beauty is really ok, her and the other girl who also was running are friends and they both made a pack with each other that it would not affect their friendship and they would be there cheering for the other when they walked off the field! I like that! The freshman princess who won, her cousin also won Sophomore Princess! How fun for that family! They have a lot of family in the school. They are the Patels.

I have two tubs packed full of Halloween garb. My dad came in to visit us last night, cooked us all dinner, helped clean and then whisked away quietly early in the morning. It is always so good to have him visit.

I loved getting out my Halloween stash. I love the grapevine pumpkins with a bit of glitter in them. I just adore the little face on the witch. I served on the Enrichment committee about 10 years ago for a few years. I was in charge of table center peices for our Fall/Halloween dinner. Mr. Incredible is thankful that I no longer serve over enrichment. I would buy a lot of things under the guise for my calling. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it is just a celebration for pure enjoyment. You get candy just for knocking on a door. I can't wait to carve pumpkins and eat pumpkin crisp and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! I am having fun decorating my fireplace. My house is destroyed today. I have it strewed all over the house with clean laundry littered in between. When everyone does their 5 minute room rescue it will clean up just fine.

It's the beauty that's inside that counts the most and it sounds like she has lots of that. Good for her!
I love the Enrichment calling and the having to buy stuff! I cannot even begin to tell you how much money I had to spend to do that calling! LOL Poor hubbies!
Love that you got to see your dad. Awesome...and the clothes are in between is even better.
Rock on mother goose!

They were just jealous of her beauty. Those that didn't vote. Seriously. Demand a recount and see how many chads were hanging. ;)

Love the garb and I bet you were a fun enrichment leader aka homemaking.

Love the 1-800-Dentist video. It is a say cheese. Rock on Goose.

When Mikele and her friend ran against eachother for Student Body Secretary, they also made a pact to be friends afterward. Mikele asked her to help her a lot and it was a fun year. A little different than being a school princess. It sounds like she did a beautiful job when the announcement was made. I can just imagine the stomach drop feeling for a few minutes.

I loved Enrichment Night when we made crafts and things. I had so many cute things. I wasn't one of those who had dozens of unfinished projects. I have to finish. Way cute things. I still haven't pulled mine out. Maybe I'll go do that now.

i don't care what the votes say...she's #1 in my book. Again, just STUNNING!

I love your halloween garb...as you know we dig the holiday here because like you said, just a fun time to get candy and decorate with no added stress like company coming, did I get the right gifts kind of thoughts.

Beauty is a winner, inside and out, because of who she is, what she stands for and for the family she is a part of. She should be very proud despite the outcome.
Halloween is a good excuse to eat far too much candy!

Janell said...

love love love the honest "what?" reaction. That is so great - she is a winner and love the halloween loot!

Stefany said...

She is a winner. Look at her. "what??" is the right reaction.

Love the Halloween decorations.

I sometimes think that losing is the better life lesson.

Love the decorations! So cute! I tend to spend tons on my callings too, using it as my excuse.

kitchenditcher said...

Gosh, what would we do without our callings so we can buy things with an excuse!! lol Loved that!

Beauty is a Super Hero!

Great stash! How wonderful to have a dad that visits!

Too bad for your daughter. It has to be hard to be so close, but not win.

I love your Halloween decorations. I love Halloween! I hope through the years to collect a fun amount of stuff. Right now my collection is pathetic! :)

I think I am a littl ejealous that your Dad came to visit and made dinner, very nice!

Love all the Halloween garb, isn't it fun getting it all out and finding a home for it?

I am bummed for your daughter, but it was a good experience for her I am sure. Plus, there's always next year!

I just had to give you a TP story update. :)

When I came in this morning, there was a huge piece of it laying in the hall outside the bathroom door. So I guess it was originally much larger. LOL!

ktmay said...

it'd be so awesome to even be considered for freshman princess. i never came close to anything like that.
but hold up, wait a sec...pumpkin chocolate chip cookies? I said HUH?

cute halloween loot!
bummer for beauty but way to go being a good sport. and putting her game face on, and staying friends.that is huge for a teenage girl. super rare for sure.

I demand a recount!!!! I want a thorough examination of the hanging chads! :-)

Seriously, Beauty does NOT need a title to validate how truly beautiful she is. She sounds like she is a self-assured young woman who is even more beautiful inside. You are a great Momma for raising a wonderful girl!

I LOVE your Halloween stuff! So festive and colorful!

That's neat that you were able to visit with your Dad. I bet he's a heck of a great guy.

Ummm---leave the scattered laundry on your floor for awhile so I won't feel too bad about mine :-)

Can't wait for the pumpkin crisp recipe to appear. So I can try it out. I thought we would be moving at the end of the month to another home in the area. Since we are not. My home is not clean enough for decorations to come out. Like the clean kitchen rule...it has to be clean to cook. I have that with holiday decorations.

WTG Beauty....I am proud of you, win or lose, you will always be a winner!!

we are decorating on Friday, the kids are off school that day. I love your decorations!!

Yes I would defiantely have them recount all those ballots.. She is just too beautiful &amazing to not have won. What were they too afraid to have someone that Beautiful. Make the rest of them look bad & ya know - they just don't knwo anything...
Glad your dad came & you had a nice dinner & visit. Love your fall table.

Learning to be a good sport is such a powerful lesson. She has a great mom to help her through the sad times and the good times. We all have both. DARN. But that is life. Fun Halloween stuff. m

Tell Beauty we all would have voted for her!!! I LOVE Halloween too, and am disgusted we haven't decorated yet, I need my dancing Frankenstein!! I covet some of your decorations...I am so bad!!lol

Way to go to Beauty for holding her head high!

Love the decorations! But I love the excuse more to have to buy them. CJ, my twin, did spend LOTS of money on Enrichment Activities!! Why do you think she had to have TWO storage sheds built in her backyard!!?
Sweet dad story! Everyone needs a day like that!! Can't wait to see the recipes!! I love the FALL!

Beauty's attitude makes her a winner, no matter what! That is so great to hear! I need some good Halloween decorations like you have!!

Beauty is a true princess with such a great attitude.

Can you come and decorate my home for Halloween?

I am totally saying WHAT???? With your daughter. I guess you win some and you lose some. It's only her freshman year and wow she's already up for homecoming court. . . what's going to happen for her next year?! That would make me all nervous as her mother. . . then again I get nervous for everything!!! LOL

I haven't had my baby yet. . . she's just making pretend that she's coming out. I went to the Dr. yesterday and I'm still 1 1/2 cm. We scheduled an induction for the 22nd. I'm happy with that.

My email is kaha_ohana@hotmail.com
I'd love copies of the reunion pics.

alohapumehana!!!

Wowzers! Your kids are GORGEOUS!! Totally can't uncerstand that she didn't win. But obviously her beauty runs much deeper.

THat is awesome that your daughter and her friend made a pact to still be friends! That is very mature for that age! Way to go! Also, I LOVE your Halloween decs! I am a Halloween and Christmas JUNKIE! I LOVE all decorations and I run out of room to put them all up! SO I feel like I have to choose which to put up and which to leave down. I love your scarecrows!!

I love your blog...and your children are GORGEOUS!!!

I love that she was honest in her reactions--"WHAT??" But, good for you for teaching her how to "lose" gracefully! (Although WE all know she ain't no loser!)

Jan said...

You got my back Goose thanks. I didn't realize that commenter from the voting post. Wowzer. I love how they shout off when and then don't say their name. No Backbone?

I haven't been able to do much "blog checking" lately but I had a few minutes and got back onto yours. Loved this post because it was like I was able to read your mind. Love the way you wrote it. Your post also got me hungry for some pumpkin crisp. That sounds REALLY good right about now! ;)

I love you Halloween decorations -- I would totally be more into decorating if I had cute stuff...I'll have to remember when i'm shopping at the post Halloween sales!

I love halloween too. I have a few things that I painted for decorations and some various pumpkin shaped bowls for candy, candles etc. This year my family is dressing up like characters in Harry Potter movies. We are having a family party with all the kids coming in from Texas and Georgia. I can't wait.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and pictures.

Sun2Shine! said...

oh yeah, one more thing...
never know about those school votes. Ours were done in the cafeteria...and sometimes kids voted more than once, depending on who was guarding the voting table.
Always thought there should be a better way.
One daughter got on court and lost being queen by 2 votes.
The other daughter didn't make court...in fact no one she knew well made court that year.
It builds character to be a gracious loser...or so I tell my girls.
Give your daughter a hug from her cyber auntie.
She is a princess to all of us.

Carol said...

The ones in my school who won those awards are the ones who have hudge issues in life now, so it is a blessing. :)
Wow, your dad visited you from NY just for an overnight? Wow!

I am so not into holiday decorating, except for Christmas. Too much stuff to store.

{amy k.} said...

Bummer your daughter didn't officially make it... but I'm sure it's all for the best.

And that's so funny I'm reading this today- how you talk about the emmy's and how they all put their game faces on... last night I was watching a Friends rerun and it was one where Joey was at an award ceremony expecting to win and when he didn't he made a scene and then when he realized the camera was on him he started smiling and clapping... so funny!
