FIRST FLIGHT

Warrior flew out on his first flight to Nebraska a few weeks ago. He was invited out to look at their football program. It is a smaller private school. One of the biggest advantages of this smaller college is they are offering the ability to play his freshman year. Normally, one of us would have been right by his side during this time in his life but Mr. Incredible was on the road and I had to tend the other three rugrats. He did fine. I mean after all he did just turn 18 and it is time to cut some of the apron strings. BUT BOY DO I MISS THAT KID!! He does so much around the house and he helps out a lot with the other kids. In fact, all of our children have adjusted really well. WE are so proud of them.
I was a bit apprehensive about him flying and having 3 connections. His flight was from Charlotte, to Washington Dulles and Washington Dulles to Chicago and from Chicago to Lincoln. His gate in Chicago was a completely different terminal. He had to catch a transit bus. I worried slightly but in the end he had no issues at all.

He really enjoyed his stay out there. He liked the kids he roomed with and there were a lot of boys who were invited out that weekend also. He came back excited and motivated. We received his letter of intent and they offered him the maximum amount for an athletic scholarship and we are now waiting on how much for his academic scholoarship.
My signature airport pictures, LOL

It's tradition that we always get a jamba juice at the airport. If it is just me and one of the kids or two of the kids flying I have made it a necessity to stop for jamba juice.

GUESS WHAT??
I said, Guess, but whatever....
As Warrior was ordering his drink they had asked if anyone wanted a small pomegranite smoothie. They had mixed a little too much for the previous person. I JUMPED all over that! SCORED me a FREE drink. There are so many blessings that pour out on us. WE just have to recognize them. I have and my tummy thanks you and so does my wallet!

I would have been a nervous wreck! But, you're right, time to cut the apron strings. I can't imagine the grief and worry when sending a 19 year old out on a foreign mission.

What a great opportunity! And Congrats on the offers and the scholarships - With the prices to send kids to college it is such a blessing!!

It IS SO HARD to let them go off alone and into the world!!

So is this to play for UNL or Wesleyan or what? You're killing me with the suspense! BTW, your son looks older than 18--with all that braun, he looks very grown up! BTW, my stepdaughterlives in Charlotte! Woot. Small world.
