My baby turned 9 years old! The time is passing so quickly. I can hardly believe it has been 9 years ago today, where I lay terribly sick and they rush us in for an emergency C-section. Born over 13/2 weeks early we had a 2 lb. 10 0z. little boy full of fight, tenacity, vigor and a strong will.
It is that strong will that makes my boy who he is. It's our duty as his parents to gear and guide this strong little spirit in the right direction. To teach him the right things to stand against and say no to.
I hear his father say, "He is so much like me." Dash likes to see how things work. He takes things apart. His father's tools are all over the garage. He has a bicycle taken apart and put together. He has a skateboard whose wheels were broken so he took them apart and tightened them. His mind is constantly thinking. What a beautiful mind he has.
If Dash wants to learn how to do something. He googles it. He reads all about it and he will youtube it and watch. This is his first year for kid pitch baseball. He has youtubed the college video how to properly throw a fast pitch baseball and then he goes out and executes it.
We took him out on a date night with him. We went to see a comedy magic act and this had Dash's name written all over it. He was mesmerized. It was a lot of fun. Mr. Incredible and I enjoyed it as well and would definitely go back. He doesn't usually allow children to attend his shows because he's not your birthday party kind of guy. But, his show was very clean.
Dash got to meet the comedy magician after the show. He was so excited and the magician was very gracious. He taught Dash a cute little trick which he has been trying to perfect. Dash really enjoyed having that special one on one time with us.
WE went out to his favorite restaurant, Golden Coral. (It's not my favorite at all)
He had three birthday cakes. Why?? Because he asked for it. I made all three. He wanted an ice cream cake, from Baskin Robins. Almost $30 for a cake. I knew I could bake one. You know what I did! IT TURNED OUT FABULOUS! even better.
He asked for a cookie cake. Yep, I made him one of those. DELISH DELISH and he asked for a TEXAS SHEET CAKE, which turned out like heaven. I can't believe I made all of this on fast Sunday. The aroma permeating the air was murder for the kids. But we all remained true and faithful to our fast and fasted 24 hours without food or drink. Each time they fast it becomes easier for them. I'm so proud of Dash and Sweetheart because we had never required our older children to fast 24 hours, only two meals. But, we have shown that we can do it.
