Temple Blessings

A comment was left that calmed my soul and healed my heart and brought peace of mind. It was advice given to her by her mother and what a wise woman she is. I am so glad she shared it with me. I always knew I had a great family but I had no idea just how GREAT and Heavenly Father through his loving hand is softly guiding us.

"Good families are not made in the absence of adversity but rather through the handling of it. Before now, we didn't know what kind of family we were. Now we get to find out. "

Columbia temple
Mr. Incredible and I recently went to the temple and it was like manna to my soul. It was such a beautiful day and our hearts were softened and our minds were burdened.

Each temple has its own blessings. I like to read the dedication prayer for the temple I am entering. I thought that the Columbia temple had a particular blessing about being burdened and its patrons would leave feeling uplifted etc, but it must have been another temple because I could not find it written. But, we did leave with an overwhelming feeling of peace and a serenity that can not be described.

WE had a goal that we would attend the temple once a month. This was when Warrior was 12 and he could babysit. Then as we attained that goal we thought maybe twice a month would be good. Let's just say we are back to the once a month goal. ::sigh::

Working for the airlines has specific perks that I have decided to take advantage of. It helps that our children are older but more importantly they are mature. I would like to attend 12 different temples a year, more if we could make it happen. It would be easier if we lived in Utah. But, I think this will be fun and a great way to accomplish a goal and do the work.

We took pictures on self mode. I looked a bit ridiculous running back and forth. I have since made a note to bring a tripod, so we could have better pics!

Attending the temple puts everything in such clear perspective. Heavenly Father continues to answer so many of our prayers. He answers them immediately, He has not left us alone! Almost daily we have a testament of how he has answered a plea. Although, our biggest prayer has not been answered yet, I know He will. We are answering the prayers to others. There are certain things that we would have never done had we not been in this situation at this particular time where we are blessing other people.

This is my last public post. We have grown quite accostomed to our show names and I will continue using them. I bid thee farewell. I'm going to try a new pair of panties on. Who knows, going private may give me a wedgie but sometimes I like that feeling. LOL ~peace out~

I so understand the joy you feel in the temple. I am so grateful that you posted your feelings it is such a boon to those around you. I know that all will be well as long as you continue in the faith. You have our prayers.

Thank you for the reminder about the peace the temple brings. As we struggle to find the next step on the path our Father in Heaven has for our family we too have been drawn to the temple. Thankfully we live very close to a temple and even though DH has to work out of town for now I can go on my own and find comfort, peace, and love. I think I will go tomorrow! Love your blog, and your spirit.

Love this post Goose. I have a friend who travels for work, and he always tries to visit the temple wherever he goes if possible. I think it would be fun to travel to as many as possible, at least in the U.S.

I have another friend who's family vacation this summer was their family visiting different temples all over UT (since they have so many so close) and doing baptisms for the dead in each one. I thought that was great too.

I love the feelings that I have when I am in the Temple. There are never quite the words to describe how wonderful it is.

If you still have space--I would LOVE to keep reading when you go private.

If you really must go private thanks for leaving us all with this post to think on and remember. It's beautiful.
And maybe you could change your mind on the no more public posts thing?

Your family is always welcome at our home if you decide to do a temple tour in UT - there are at least 8 within an hour or so of my house - one is a 10 min walk from the house.

Those are some beautiful pictures! You and your husband look great, and what a great goal to have. IT is hard when you have little ones to attend the temple so often, but in due time.. I try right?

I love the picture! You two are beautiful standing in front of the temple (or anywhere for that matter! But especially the temple!)

I'm so glad you posted this. It might be the gentle nudge I needed. We don't go as often as I'd like and we live 5 min away.

Thanks for asking MG. Things are pretty much the same. No prospects of anything better yet. :(

What a great goal! I hope you make it. It's been a long time since we've been to the temple. It's the downfall of living 2 hours away from a temple and having young kids. When we move to Boston, it will be much easier.

Your post reminded me that I need to get to the temple soon. Thanks!

Thank you for this post. What a wonderful reminder for us (for me!!). Things in the world can seem so out of control, but how blessed we are as Latter-day Saints to have the beautiful gospel and Temples, to help give us perpective and hope.

I think of the difference between me, my friends who attend a church of other faiths in contrast to those who do not attend church at all. Such a difference in outlooks between those who go to church and those who dont at all.

I always give thanks (ok..I try too), for my adversities because I do end up learning from them, when I choose too.

Love & prayers are with you and your family Mother Goose!!

Loved your last couple of post. Just now getting around to reading and catching back up. You all have been on my mind so much. When I was going through the biggest trial of my life I couldn't talk about it because it was very personal- I found comfort in music. My favorite song was "Sometimes he lets it Rain" I'll have to look up the singer. I am sure you've prob. heard it-but during a trial the words ring so true and gave me such comfort.
You are hanging in there with such strides and lessons learned. We are still praying hard for a job. I know it will come. Although I wish it was Tennessee we had the kids stop asking for that and just pray for employment. We love you guys.

Ok i had to look it up---the song is by Stephanie Hill.

What a wonderful statement shared by Cynthia. Definitely something to think on and really puts it in perspective.

I love that you share some about the temples and how it uplifts you . This one is very pretty but I know it is not the prettiness of the building as much as the one who lives within that does the uplifting :)

So funny about stage names and wedgies too LOL! I wish I had thunk to do stage names from the get go - provides privacy yet lets you share :)

Many hugs!

You are always welcome in our home to do a drive through temple date!

Thanks for this post, I loved it. We go to the temple once a week with our ward, it is hard sometimes trying to juggle kids and babysitters but it is well worth it!

See ya wearing a wedgie!

I'll agree with you Goose, my Mama is a VERY smart lady! She said that to me 16 years ago and it still resonates with me. Even as a sullen not-quite-a-teenager-anymore I could see the wisdom in it, even if I didn't want to at the time!

Oh- and things worked out great for my sister. She and the Dad got married (she was 18) and even though they lost the baby, they persevered. They're still happily married after 16 years and now have 4 lovely daughters and have been sealed in the Temple. They sort of got there backwards but they got there.

I'm glad you two are taking care of yourselves spiritually through this challenge- and my fingers are crossed for the 11th!

I need to work on getting back to the temple. Your post inspired me. I understand the going private, as I have been thinking about doing the same thing.

What a special post. During these times of trials and struggles, taking care of our spirituality is vital. My hubby and I went without a recommend for a couple of years and then one day I was asked to serve in a stake calling. I told the bishop & stake president of my unworthiness and they told me they still felt strongly that I should take the call. After a few months of service, the president said she wanted to go to the temple as a presidency and fast and pray for the sisters. I felt like one of the 10 virgins caught without my lamp being full. I was heartbroken not to be able to attend with them. I vowed then and there to get back in standing with my recommend. We now enjoy those blessings. Now, when I was asked to sing at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication, my lamp was full and I feel so blessed and have felt the spirit so strongly each time we practice. I feel my ancestors with me who tilled the very soil the temple was built. BTW, thanks for the invite! If you want a part of my private blog, let me know your email address and I'll send you an invite. Cheers!
