My EXIT! Isn't it beautiful? The commute is great! It is 10 miles away from our home. Our home is outside the flight pattern so no noise and it takes me 20 minutes for a leisure drive and 15 minutes if I'm late!
Taking my place to enter the employee parking lot.
You have to swipe your badge entering the employee parking lot.
People getting on the employee bus. I try to park in the first parking deck. It almost ensures that you have a seat. I recommend this. Because the bus will travel to 5 other lots letting people on and off. We will pack them like sardines, every seat is filled as well as the aisles! My favorite time to ride the bus is when my shift is over on a hot Carolina afternoon when it has hit 98 degrees and about 90% humidity. The aroma is amazing!....NOT! It was once so bad on the bus, I started gagging, had to open a window and almost puked! I am overly extremely SENSITIVE to SMELLS, especially foul smells. I throw up cleaning diapers and poop. ( I better stop because I feel my stomache lurching).
After a 4 minute walk from the turnstyle to the break room.
Time Clock! If you forget to clock in and you work the entire day, you will have to jump through hoops, hold your breath, stand on your head and give your first born before they will even consider signing you in and paying you for the day. The same is like wise if you forget to clock out. Doing it this way makes it quite nice because you will only forget ONCE! The same applies if you are ONE MINUTE late, but don't worry about clocking out 15 or 20 minutes after your shift ends because you were still working. You won't get paid for that. It's important if you must work your flight later than your shift to get the time APPROVED PRIOR! (really hard, since shift change you can't ever find the people you need).
Our ex Station manager patting a co-worker on the back for doing a nice job. We are shaking things up here in Charlotte. Upper management positions and management positions are all up for grabs, anyone want a job?
The board that tells you what section you will be working and any other useless information.
I usually arrive 15 to 30 minutes early. I like to talk with my co workers and....SWAP!
This little peice of paper is why most of us work for the airlines. It's all about the SWAP, who you know and who's going to work for you. One of the few jobs where you can pick up as many shifts as you desire or get rid of as many shifts as you desire! It's also the place where you get to find out all the juicy information like.....
The dreary EPOC office where rebooking passengers who are going to miss their connection because of a crew delay, maintenance delay, or weather.
The computer where we make everything happen
Sadly, there are some gates where you still have to walk outside to board your plane. EWwww..

Customer service at it's finest. I have worked ramp, and then I went inside to work the gates. I have also worked the Cars and it is a nice break. However, I would not like to do this ALL the time! BORING!!! However, it still let's you fly and it's pretty easy!

You also get to see fashion do's and don'ts. More DON'TS!
It wouldn't be a work day if we didn't have a few disgruntled passengers. They have just been notified their flight has been delayed 30 minutes. This is where you brace yourself for all the reasons why people have to get where they are going. Top THREE.
1. I'm getting married. I can't be late. (Honey, the wedding won't start without the bride)
2. I'm going to a funeral. (I am truly sorry, I can see if we can get you out on another flt, with a connection.
3. I'm going to miss my business trip. I'm not going anymore. (Sorry, we can book you back to your original destination and give you what is called a trip in vain.)
If you need a map at the airport; You know you are in trouble!....I'm just saying.

I get to meet friends who fly into town as well.
I have done Florida day trips, Boston Day trips, Washington, DC and NYC. I used to fly to NYC just to have lunch in Little Italy and be back home for dinner!
BUT WHAT IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO..... IS I LOVE LOVE my job and the opportunities that it gives us to fly wherever we want and whenever we want.... FREE!!! It really is a good part time job to have and I hope my kids use it to put themselves through college. This job is one of the most accommodating jobs for a college student! They also have a scholarship for college applicants! I wish I knew this BEFORE Warrior graduated!!

It does look like an exciting job! How are you guys going to work this out with moving? Will you transfer to a different aiport or what? I'd hate for you to have to give it up completely.
We fly through Charlotte alot...next time I will have to give you a heads up and maybe we can meet!
I didn't know where you worked. I loved how you posted the entire thing - very cool!
It looks like a great job and the perks can't be beat!
The picture of you with your friend is great - You are so beautiful!!!!
is this just at YOUR airport or allover? How can I get Desi on at the airport in one of these sweet positions?? Cuz she's been offered a live-in nanny position as soon as she graduates and I don't want her to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Must. Find. Alternative!
Sounds like a fun job you are going to miss!!
I love the fashion statements.. I would love to work at the airport just to see that!
Nice to see your day. Are you going to do similar in your new town?
Oh my gosh, how fun!! And you look so pretty in your uniform!!!
How nice to be in another state and back in just a day!
I thought I would answer some questions here. The great thing about this job is that I can keep working it from anywhere. Many of my co-workers live in other states and fly into work.
I am going to do the same. I'm going to try to come in every other week and work my shift. However, If I find that it's too difficult or not working out. I will put in a transfer and work out of the St. Louis airport.
I wish I could fly for free becuase then I would come and see you for lunch----'cause you're freaking awesome!!
That's awesome!! I'd love to fly free.
I think all the free travel would be worth it...
I applied once to work for the airlines as a flight attendant. Apparently I was too young, 19. Can't serve alcohol at 19...
I agree, the perks are fantastic! Why don't I take advantage of it more often?? True, the last thing Luvpilot wants to do when he comes home from work, is turn around and get on another airplane, but I should go places without him! Go meet blog friends for lunch or get some buddy passes and take friends with me. That is my new goal. Gotta see and enjoy life, right?
Your job sounds really exciting.
That is so awesome!! What a dream job you have!!! I LOVE the dos and don'ts of fashion!!! Haha!! I bet you see a TON!!
Very Cool! I wanna come work with you!!!
you deserve to have a job you love..What great perks.
