Memorial Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day! Our was jammed pack with a day of celebration and good fun! I haven't been blogging, aka, recording in my journal, however we have been making long lasting memories and fortifying relationships and just on the go go go! With school out I hope to catch our breath but it looks like we will stay up and running until August! I asked everyone to wear a red shirt. WE didn't matchy match but it was good enough. I wish the Mr. and I got a pic with the kiddos too. They are growing so fast! I love them so. Warrior had a great time in Honduras! I'm so glad he went and is home safely. Amazing stories and experiences. My worries were for nothing. Trust. Trust in yourself, trust in your young adult and most importantly trust in the Lord.
Some trivia about Memorial Day - Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service.[1] First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War – it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War – it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.
In the United States, Memorial Day marks the unofficial (i.e. non-astronomical) start of summer, just as Labor Day marks the unofficial end of the season.
Begun as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the Civil War, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, whether they had served in the military or not. It also became a day increasingly devoted to shopping, family get-togethers, trips to the beach, and national media events such as the Indianapolis 500 auto race, held since 1911 on Memorial Day[2].

We went to the ward Memorial Day picnic. It was so much fun and there were many who attended. Bishop Cluff making our family some grub! There was a lot of food there!

I made a red/white/blue cake. I didn't give myself enough time, rushed it and it turned out a flop, literally! We brought popsicles to the party instead. I hear it was a big hit. I also hear there were many popsicle plastics around. ::oopsy::

check out Dash's face. He's so funny!
I purchased a pool off of Craigslist this past weekend! It's beautiful! It was also a lot of beautiful work to take it down. It took right at 5 hours to take it down. I shutter to think of the hours to put it up! The driving force that compells me to putting it up is I already spent the money and the pending heat that lurks just around the corner for summer! but, mostly it's the money.
(I so enjoy watching him work machinery)

We are friend's with a family in our ward. He happens to be the Bishop who has three strapling young men and a beautiful little girl. Kindest family you will ever meet. Anyway, I have solicited their help for a few of my craiglist findings. I basically drag them kicking and screaming but like my children they always come! (not really, all I have to do is call and they are there. Wish it were that way with the latter)

They stayed with us right til the bitter end until soccer called them away. He also has access to all the fun machinery that we need to make this ordeal go smoothly. (ex: dump truck, trencher, bobcat, land leveler, etc.
::salivating:: sorry, something about my man running anything with a motor in it tends to get my motor running too::

Our home has also had it's first house guests! A friend of mine from Charlotte came and spent the weekend a few weeks ago. He works most of my Fridays. He helps me keep my flight benefits! I so appreciate him and was happy to open my home to him. He also played my surrogate son while Warrior was in Honduras. We went to the Annheiser Busche factory. It was fun! WE got all the free pretzels and soda we could eat along with 3 free beers. We brought Ed, and he could have had our samples but he was good with just his own quantity.

In the background, you will also see my good friend Joan. Her and her husband Joel came to visit STL. He had business in town. We got to spend some good time with them. Such a fun couple, who love RockBand. I have known Joan for almost 11 years! She knows everything about me and our family, yet this was the first time we EVER met in person! I love our yahoo group. Such lasting friendships.

There is so much more to blog! I have been slowly but surely making changes in the home. I still have a lot of painting to do but we have been entertaining almost every weekend since we moved in! I love it! Crazy busy but fun. WE had a fun night playing MadGab with 10 adults and we were laughing so hard and for so long my face and belly hurt!

How fun to finally meet such a close friend. How's the pool working out?
