LOCKS of LOVE (how to donate your hair)

I have been thinking about cutting my hair for months. I enjoy getting my hair cut as much as I enjoy visiting the dentist for a root canal. I would rather go and see a gynecologist and get weighed and sit on tissue paper that always seems to crawl up my backside, than get my hair cut. I decided I would cut my hair today and Sweetheart said she wanted hers cut. We flew out the door without a second thought.

Sweetheart stated she wanted her hair cut short. I was thinking shoulder length. She walks in and thumbs through a few styling books and comes up with ULTRA short. "Hmmmm...OK". The hair dresser suggests if she should have 10 inches cut off and she will be able to donate her hair to Locks of Love. She is now ecstatic that she gets to do something charitable. I am still hesitant.

I tell the hair stylist to show me what 10 inches would look like on my head. "Uhhh... I don't think so." I chickened out and had my hair cut 8 inches. Two inches shy of a charitable donation. I am sorry, I just couldn't do it! But, I got bangs and now I am second guessing that too.
The requirements to donate your hair are really simple.
-hair must be clean
-hair must be at least 10 inches. (if in layers your longest layer must measure 10inches
-hair must be tied back in a pony tail or braided
-hair must not be bleached or highlighted but dyed is acceptable.

For further information on how to donate your hair click here.
I have a picture of a beautiful little girl, who was happy to help someone feel beautiful too by donating her hair!

What a worthy cause though. I just love that program for donating hair.

You both are just stunning. I think your daughter's smile is like a magnet. She just draws you in. What a cute hair style for her.

I like my hair longer. But it grow super fast, so I should consider this too. Have a great weekend Mother. Thanks for the share.

Wow, my friend gave her hair to her friend who was going through cemo. I teased my girls when maka was going through his cancer that we should cut their hair and give it to him, they didn't find it funny, my kids definatly quailify for that program but to do it? Hmm, I am glad you could help out!!! And hello, I'll do your cut if you do my root canal- deal?

ewww, I'm squirming with flashbacks of the tissue creaping up in places it doesn't need to go! ewwww.

I didn't know it was so easy to donate. I wonder if any hair place will do it. Did you guys mail it somewhere, or did the salon take care of it for you?

You both look fantastic!

I feel the way about the eye doctor as you do about getting your hair cut. Ugh, thinking about it.

I wish I had one/fifth of your (or your daughter's) hair. I have these sad little teeny ponytail - I have the hair of a three year old.

She is absolutely beautiful with her new hair-do! (she was beautiful to begin with but I love the new "do"} What a wonderful thing to do---donate her hair. My daugther, Julia has donated her hair twice and I cried the 1st time, they asked me if that was my DD and and said----no, that looks like her sister, but that's not Julia, she has long hair. (it was a surprise to me!!!---what a surprise) They are wonderful young women!
