How to wash an English Mastiff

A story through pictures
The weather was beautiful this weekend.
The dog has been in need of a bath.
No extra cash flow for pet smart.
4 free willing dog washers
1 large dog
1 hose
and an hour of fun and squeels!
PRICELESS

1. You must first capture the BEAST. (Kekoa likes to be washed liked this. He just loves for anyone to scratch his belly. He wants to lay down.

2. Must ensure that the coat is completely wet.

3. Use scrubbing mitts and your favorite dog shampoo! The mitts allow you to brush any dead hair off the dog while washing. He loves this part because it feels like a good brushing.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET WATER IN THIS BREEDS EAR! YOU WILL DEFINITELY CAUSE AN EAR INFECTION!
AFTER EACH BATH OR SWIM APPLY A GENEROUS SQUIRT OF EPI-OPTIC to EACH EAR TO DRY WATER ANY WATER THAT MAY HAVE REACHED THE INNER EAR CANAL!

4. Rinse, and rinse again.

5. TURN ON CD SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE, SHAKE YOUR BOOTY! SHAKE your BOOTY! This will help you tolerate the bath you will soon receive compliments from your dog.
Sing it wit me:: Shake

shake

shake (notice how high his ear is flapping??)

SHAKE YOUR BOOTY

SHAKE YOUR BOO-TY

It's a guy thing. It happens. I guess he shook a little too hard. Remember this post with Dash? See, I got their backs or maybe their fronts... it's all good.

Dry with towel, starting with head or allow to thoroughly air dry on a VERY WARM day.

All this "getting back to basics" can be fun after all.

Look at you- havin fun with your kids, doing something that use to cost a lot of money!

How did you do "oops" on the pic?

Glad you got to do it as a family. :)

That sounds very exciting. How wet did all of you get while he was shaking?

I'm amazed that you were able to get your kids to help you wash your dog and they look like they're having fun doing it!

My son has always wanted a dog, but he is alergic to most animals especially dogs. So for years on his birthday he would ask for the following in this order a brother, a dog, a cat, bird and a sister was last on the list.

My dogs would RUN anytime they had a bath. Scared to DEATH of water!!

Ok the OOPS and the BUTTERFLY on dash cracks me the heck up! I need to learn how to do that! lol

I'm impressed that you all can make it look like so much fun to wash a dog. I've only bathed cats and I have the scratches on my arm to prove it!

Nicely done. I wish our lab would let us wash him. Whoever had him before us must have tortured him with water because he's a big chicken. And labs are supposed to like to swim, but he freaks out.

This is too funny. I love that it took the whole family to give the bath. Out little baby weighs about 10 lbs and it takes 3 of us.

Thanks for coming over to my blog. I appreciate your comments. Maybe I'll look at how to remove the comment word verification thingy. I know it can be a pain in the bum.

Washing a dog that big looks like no easy feat but you make it look fun. Great pics!

What about the most important step which is "race around the yard in circles for no apparent reason for 5 mintes"? That is my favorite post washing activity.
