Service Young Women's class activity

Our MiaMaid class chose to help a young sister who's husband is currently working out of town for months. She has 3 little adorable children! We love the Garcia Family. My MiaMaid girls are amazing! They weren't always amazing they were divided and different but through consistently doing activities that unify and easy going activities that break down barriers and gain trust and allows them opportunities to open up and have that trust that they won't be mocked or ridiculed gains trust. They still aren't exactly a like but they have the friendship to look past differences and find commonalities. They are amazing Young Women and will make amazing leaders one day. I have no doubt!!

Swim activity YOUTH ACTIVITY - Joint activity

We have such a great youth group! we have almost 100% who consistently supports and come out. This is an activity that is always fun and our young men and young women both have a good report with each other! They are an awesome bunch of youth and I haven't seen this type of groups support in a youth program since I served in Texas which was over 15 years ago.

Pink leopard Puppy

This past Sunday in Young Womens my daughters had a lesson. Each of their mothers were to choose and item from their daughters room that would help their leaders get to know them better and give them insight into who these young women were. This was another fun activity I enjoyed. (I wrote an essay when apparently they just wanted a few sentences) HA!
Sweetheart,
Most things in your room are kind of quirky. It was hard for me to find one item that I thought expressed who you are. I chose this dog that stays on your dresser.
This dog is pink with black leopard spots. It stands out. It is different.  You too are different. You stand apart. You once had purple stripes in your hair. Yet, you don't like attention.

You are fun loving and like to laugh and have a great time. You once pined that I should purchase this dog. I resisted because I just knew it would quickly be tossed.  I finally relented and years later it has still remained.  It has made it through our travels and rests on your dresser. For some reason, you have defined this dog.

Like a puppy you are fun loving and a good friend. Puppies are irresistible and all they want is to be loved and accepted, fed and pet. You don't thrive well in contentious environments. You will retreat or do anything to make things happy again. You are loyal. You are a good friend and sister. You are faithful and friendly. I only have seen the "bite" side of you after enduring long periods of annoyance or hunger. And then, it is just a quick snap and you are over it. I love this quality most about you because you are quick to forgive and slow to reprove. You are a loyal friend. You are a true friend. If someone is not doing right, you don't look the other way, you address it and sometimes you lose friends over it.  Don't worry, they weren't really friends. Because friends except you as you are and encourage you to be better!

I see in this stuff animal another quality in you, obedience. You are faithful and good. When asked you rarely complain and usually just do it. It may not be what you want to do but you are still obedient. You are wacky and silly and get bursts of weird craziness. I see this in puppy play. You are able to change the mood of a room to laughter. At times, you tend to take yourself too seriously.

As people gravitate to puppies. People will want to be your friend. With your friendly personality be careful and cautious to whom you give your trust to. All good pets have good masters. May you continue to grow and take these great qualities as you learn to listen to our Father in Heaven. He is the only true Master.  May you choose to follow his commandments with the same excitement and enthusiasm as you do life. In doing this; you will find true and lasting happiness and joy.
BTW, I hope you had a wonderful birthday my sweet new teenager!

YW theme for 2011: 13th Article of Faith

My girls for YW are doing an art gallery for New Beginnings! It was cancelled due to the crazy snow and ice storms that we have been having!
I took them outside and snapped a few pictures of them and chose a quality that I thought they represented and why! They turned out really great, if I don't say so myself! I can't wait to get these framed and hang them in their rooms! I had so much fun; I think I may due all of the values!
If you don't know what the 13th article of faith it, it is one of the main points that we believe as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. You can read it here. OR you can read their little blurb.
I sure do love them! They are growing into two of the finest young women I have ever known!
