My DASH! 15 yrs old -2015

I am blogging current time. I am still not caught up with the past three or so years of blogging the pictures from my phone or on my hard drive but slow and steady wins the race!
Dash has NEVER allowed a photo session! They have ALWAYS been obligatory pictures with the family and one maybe two individuals for record! But, over the past 6 months he had mentioned that I NEVER take pictures of him and I replied, "YOU NEVER want to take any pictures" and YESTERDAY was the DAY!!
It should be marked in the books up above! We've come a long way!

He felt uncomfortable and uneasy! He kept asking what do I do with my hands??

WHERE DO I PUT THEM! and let's be honest if a guy doesn't have his hands in his pockets or crossed or hanging, WHAT DO THEY DO WITH THEM??

I think he did so well and it wasn't too painful!

There may have been a few drops of blood and one tear shed.
(We scared him and shoved him into this brick dungeon so he scraped his arms)

and the shedding of tears may have come because he was sooo over taking pictures but I pressed him more!

THEN THIS HAPPENED and he made me want to cry! I asked my sweet little boy to give me a "come here" or sexy look"! WHAT WAS I THINKING??? He's 15!! so of course, I GOT THIS INSTEAD??

                                    BLESS HIS  HEART FOR TRYING

He is an amazing young man! He surprises me everyday and I am always upset that I am surprised! I should know these things and mannerisms of him because he has always been this boy! They were just hidden by other qualities that spoke louder! Dash has always been a fighter! He was born premature and he has had to fight for every breath he needed. He had to fight against different odds medically and being the youngest of 4 with two girls before him; he had to fight to be him and not bossed by two little mothers!

He looks out for others. He is kind and he understands and knows the gospel. He will make comments that allow me to know he GETS IT and he is so much wiser beyond his years. He lives up to his the meaning of his Hawaiian name which means Spirit of Wisdom! and of course our last name being Solomon. He is wise and I pray he will always use his wisdom and intelligence wisely and for good.

With great power comes great responsibility! Remember the downfalls of King Solomon. He allowed his love for material things and women take precedence over his love for God! Keep your eye single to the Glory of God! I love you so much and you are an amazing son, who I am so proud of!  Love, MOM

Seeker of Light

As my family grows and my interests have changed I have struggled to where I want to see my blogging go. I'm happy to be back typing my thoughts.

I recently was on a photo shoot with a beautiful young woman. Our session began at 4pm and for about 20 minutes we dealt with light that cast a bit of a cold blue haze. But, as we continued shooting and moving around the pond the magical twilight hour came upon us and kissed her hair, cheeks and eyes!

It was beautiful and incredible and every photo taken was breathtaking and gorgeous!!! I was so excited and thrilled and I just knew she was going to love every single shot. We were able to relax and pose and change outfits and take our time and everything had that golden glow around.

I noticed the trees around us were casting deep shadows and we had to seek higher ground. We began gathering our things and moving around and searching for the perfect spot, once again. When you are a natural light photographer, you are always seeking the light. We found another spot in the park with great lighting and I was able to fire off three or more pics before we had to gather and move our things, once more.

We were always seeking the light. We would search for it, find it and get there and have to move again. Previously, those very same areas were perfectly lit. The sun shone all around us but as the sun continued to journey across the sky and begin to set, our feet continued to hurry faster seeking it.
We finally went to higher ground and we were able to shoot for another 15 minutes of having a beautiful glow behind her and then the final minutes came where it became too dark to shoot.

As I relate it to a gospel principles I realized that we truly are seekers of light. I seek for the light that brings out the best in their hair, eyes and skin and as a photographer, I will move around until I find it. In my personal life I seek for light that brings out the best in me and my family. I revel and bask when we find that perfect spot of warmth and comfort and familiarity. When the light shines on your face and it's the perfect temperature and you close your eyes and breathe it all in, only to give a beautiful exhale and release all stress, anxiety, fear and negativity.
As we were scrambling and running to the next area with perfect lighting, I realized we couldn't be there for long. We had to continually move because our light source was moving. I learned that sometimes what can start off good and appropriate can change and we need to recognize and be aware of where our light source is and if it is moving we must be willing to move with it.

It was a physical manifestation that when I got to higher ground I was able to bask in the once fleeting light a little longer. It matters where we stand. If we are going to be seekers of light we must stand in holy places.  May we always seek out the best of all things. Strive to be a little better and make a change in the world. One person can make a difference.  In Doctrine and Covenants 109:  And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom, seek learning even by study and also by faith;

Photo sessions

Between working working working I have been trying to squeeze time in for my love of photography! But I have made time for a few sessions. For more pictures please click my photography blog, here.
A senior session! I'm new to these. I'm not sure if I like them but she had some gorgeous shots from her sessions. This is one of my favorites.

A newborn session. This was also one of my first sessions. I did two others. For little babies they required a lot more work than I was anticipating. I did like this session.

I just had to take a few shots of her older sisters! There family is so much fun!

An engagement session.

A baby session

followed up with her 3 siblings! What a sweet family, the girls are so sweet.

Followed up with a session I booked with Sweetheart! It was so fun just spending time with her. Next session is with Dash as soon as it stops raining.

I DO, I do

So, when I wasn't cooking, working or at soccer practices. Here's what else I was up to. My style is definitely candids and carefree. I am so far behind in posting some of my shoots to my photography blog here are a few. I now, know that weddings are definitely not my thing. I prefer to be the second shooter at weddings. I'll keep it at that. A wedding and a senior shoot. If you would like to view more click here.

I had this template from another person who made this on a forum. I changed it up some. It still needs work on sayings and font colors for this particular pic. There is a better pic that would fit this cover but...
ok, for some scrumptious food just read the post below! MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm........

SPT-Olympics- citius

This month's S.P.T. challenge from Lelly is all about the Olympics.
You may have remembered my post representing fortius, stronger. If not, you can view it here.
"The ideals of the Olympic motto:
citius, altius, fortius [faster, higher, stronger]"

Well, I am pretty quick witted on a one to one basis. I love bantering back and forth with someone. But FASTER! I can't say that has been a descriptive of me in the past 10 years. What am I faster at?? I am pretty fast at depleting a checking account. I am pretty good at whipping my DEBIT card out and swiping it through the card reader. In fact, I even challenged Beauty an avid mall shopper, and quite worthy of the challenge to a draw. Here are the results! Oue the music.

HANDS DOWN... I AM FASTER!
Check out all the other faster, higher, stronger people over here.
OK, for any who are anti debt. This is a debit card. I only use my debit card and never carry cash. So, to the rotting sucker in prison who killed Michael Jordan's father for a measly $20. You would be in even worse luck if you robbed me. I would say, HERE! TAKE IT!, maybe you could squeeze more money out of it than I can.
Beauty was given a Visa Buxx card for Christmas. We have complete control over it. Please check it out! It is the best thing since sliced butter! click on Wachovia.
