Yes, I went to Great Clips, Yes, I know the ramifications of going to this type of place. However, I have to say I have been to the top salons and have paid $80+ for a wash cut and style and still left looking like I had mange. I have paid $10 and been satisfied.
My deal with stylists is I can tell right away if it will be a good cut by first the shampoo, if you happen to be the washer and the cutter. My hair needs cutting all the way through. It is thick it is course and you have to really GET INTO THE HAIR! Many stylists act like they are afraid of such thickness. I promise you won't get lost in it! I'll come find you.
I have tried white stylists, black stlists, mexican, gay and hetero, high end and low end and everyone in between. When I find you, I am loyal to you. I also tip very well. I tip half of the charge fee no matter what it is! So don't rush the process.
I have found 4 or 5 good hair dressers, so I guess that averages to once every 10 years I get a good cut!
Once, I find my perfect scissor mate, they end up moving, getting fired or quitting and they don't leave a forwarding. When I found my most perfect stylist. I asked her all of these questions. She assured me she had been with the salon for 10 years and wasn't going anywhere. She was amazing. I didn't need some high meds to make and appointment. There was no trepidation with her. I went every 3 to 4 weeks. She was 30 years old, and almost 6 months after our sessions she had a stroke which left her paralyzed on one side. She was gone for 3 years recovering, and for 3 years I trimmed my own hair and fretted and it went awrye.
I feel like I am back in high school. With the wild bushy hair. But seriously, unless the 80's come back and the Hair Bands and spandex this do just won't do!

This is the result, of washing my hair, sleeping on it and waking up! There is no product in it, it is aux natural! It's uneven and it is very bushy because she cut one layer right at my middle cheek, where we all KNOW that is where every over sized woman wants added BULK! that is like me going to a seamstress and saying YES, I would love an oversized BOW placed right above my butt, and OHHHHh, please give me as many gathered pleats as you possibly could make right across my stomache and while your at it for added flair why don't you throw in some co-ordinating fabric right across the tops of my thighs. I love how that accentuates the girth of them. Please and thank you!....NOT!

It's not horrendous but it isn't the best cut! Perhaps in two weeks I will be singing this girls praises, but for now I'm staying out of the public eye! Maybe, I should try straightening it, but I'm afraid I will really HATE IT!! See straightening my hair is my only saving grace. Without that, I got NUTTIN'! When Mr. Incredible came in, he thought I CUT IT MYSELF!! He said the ends were uneven. Yeah, I knew that when I left but I didn't want any more inches taken off the bottom, so I left, with a smile!
**We agreed to have 5 inches cut. But, when the top layer was cut mid face it looked like a GROWN OUT MULLET!! I kid you not. I had to cut off another 3 inches so that it looked like a layer. Why didn't she just cut me a third layer in between the two? So, we had 8 and a half inches cut off. Good side:: no more split ends::
***While getting shampood I knew I should have just paid for that and left. I knew when she washed my hair and never touched my scalp and the hair at the base of my neck never got wet. I was in trouble. But, NO I sit there, and at the end pay her and tip her! WHAT THE HECK?? Once in the chair. I felt like I was strapped. I was immobilized. My feet wanted to run, my head said, "RUN", but my butt was gorilla glued to the chair. I looked at the other dressers and they looked like they all needed a good healthy cut, their dye job was very bad and I seriously wondered if this was where the graduates of the community beauty school were employed. I also did not find one certificate hanging, very odd.
It's not THAT bad... right?
I will probably try straightening it tonight. Mr. Incredible has just informed me we will be spending most of our day here. He has taken off the day. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that our son wants to go to Honduras or anything? It is flood the temple week. Do you think if I pray hard enough for my hair to grow back, it could happen?

*****NOTES TO MYSELF FOR MY NEXT HAIRCUT*****
-If the stylists look like they need a good cut, turn around.
-If the stylists look like their roots hadn't been touched in 6 months, TURN AROUND.
-If the stylists look like they would rather sit and do nothing, TURN AROUND
-If the stylists can't get your entire head wet, when getting shampood, LEAVE, pronto
-If the stylist only has a blow dryer and one comb, and one scissors,LEAVE she is not experienced enough for my hair
and the number 1 word of advice...
***Please don't get your hair cut on a desperate whim, don't be upset with your hair to the point you would chop it yourself, Go to an established salon. You will be much happier and love yourself and the ice cream parlor down the road won't know you by name!....(I'm just sayin')
