Every year I have participated in an ornament exchange swap. This year I decided to make ornaments from light bulbs. I chose to do a penguin. I drew my inspiration from http://www.familycorner.com/homegarden/crafts/lightbulb_penguin.shtml# If you click here and scroll down to viewer comments you will see my lil penguins. I believe these little guys my look even better with some penguin feet cut from orange foam.
I NEVER follow directions to the T. I like to improvise. I do this with cooking all the time. I will sub out spices and herbs or veggies to something that works for our family. I am the same way with crafting. I love to craft. I just need a reason to craft. These ornaments literally cost me only the value of purchasing the light bulbs. The fur hat comes from the boa that I had purchased to make a fringe for Makela and my pajamas. We had a mother daughter PJ party. I had paint, toothpicks and ribbon. I have a ribbon fetish. I can not help buy buy ribbon. I have a huge box full of ribbons. I tend to do my best work under pressure. I am a procrastinator and my eldest daughter has inherited this trait. No matter how early we have a project and a deadline our brains will not function until the 11Th hour. Penguin-2007, pine cone-2006, red bead snowflake-2005, fabric angel-2004, Battenburg angel-2003. I am still waiting for the Bill to bring me my last tub of ornaments from the shed so, I can share my previous creations.
