***THANKFUL THURSDAY***Cook out

I am going to sneak 2 posts in one and be Thankful for the TIME! I am thankful we were able to spend time together as a family doing things out of the ordinary and spending genuine time with one another. We took ourselves out of the world for just a moment of time. Sometimes, we can let life keep us in a turmoil. Sometimes, we need to disappoint others and say NO, so that we can do what is best for our families and ourselves. I picked up a lot of hours last week and the week prior. Everything functioned in an orderly fashion. I am so thankful that I do not have to keep those hours on a regular basis. I am thankful I can do it when I wish. This is how we ended our Easter Break. The temps had started to drop and was getting nippy outside. We spent the most money on the pit this weekend.

The pit was $99.00 and so worth it. I love the fire bowl. It is made of clay and it can be used as a fire bowl in the colder months and as a planter in the warmer months. It even comes with a grill insert and a lid. It is recommended that you not use charcoal or lighter fluid. Probably, much like the stoneware from pampered chef.

We roasted hotdogs and had all of the fixings. There is something about food (if you can call hotdogs that) being cooked over an open fire that makes it taste better. The most important food were the s'mores! YUM MEeeeeeeeeee! A marshmellow toasted to perfection sandwhiched between two peices of graham cracker with chocolate in between!::swoons:: Some ate the marshmellows plain, (Dash) others burnt to a crisp, (me) some were anal in their toasting (Mr. Incredible) but no matter how you chose to eat your marshmellows the consensus was DELICIOUS!

I enjoy eating a perfectly toasted marshmellow but I do not have the patience to sit there and watch over it. So, I just plunge mine into the fire. Watch it become a torch and the entire marshmellow engulfed in flames. I then pull it out, blow it out and see that the entire mellow is BLACK. OPEN mouth and insert! Mmmmm.. mmmm... good!
We had a great time sitting around the camp fire and talking, eating and singing. We promise to meet again around the pit next weekend. I have a childhood treat that we would cook around the fire. They are called honey bears.

Nothing like a fire. When we go to the cabin we will spend hours around the fire. It is one of our favorite things to do!

We built a pit in our backyard...we have been told it's a no no within city limits, but it's better to ask forgiveness than permission.

I ALWAYS love a fire outside, it reminds me of growing up on the beach. For some reason, I think our family would love kickin it with your family around a fire...how fun!

And, you're right...the hot dogs are better when burned over some flames on a stick AND it is all about the smores.
