Beauty had Girls Camp a few weeks ago. She is glad that she went. In my youth, I didn't have girls in my own ward that I meshed with. We got along well for Sundays and for activities but they weren't the girls I wanted to hang out with or go to the movies with. My children are experiencing similar feelings. I know it is hard for them both, but I know that this too will teach them much. WE can't always go where our friends are. I strongly encourage EFY. It allows them to see a glimpse that no matter what your stroke you can find different folk. There are youth out there with their same standards who have their same interests and have their same sense of humor. They have many youth friends from other wards in our Stake. They are going out to parties and swim parties or shopping with youth from Carmel,Pineville, Weddington, and Catawba. I love that they have found church friends, elsewhere.
All parents were asked to write their daughters a letter. Mr. Incredible and I each wrote our own. While we were putting away her camp things I came across his letter to her! The booger, he out did my letter. He so gets her. If I ever have to leave this world early I know that Mr. Incredible can do this without me! (didn't I train him well?)

His letter
Beauty,
Let me first start off by saying that you are my favorite teenage daughter! Don’t ever forget that. Seriously, from the day that you were born, you were my princess and will forever be! Know that I am always here for you.
Now, you have been at camp for a few days and I am sure you have mumbled a few disgruntled thoughts. That’s OK, things are not always exactly as we would like them. I do know that you should be there. I don’t know exactly why, but I feel that there is something for you to learn through this experience. It is funny; it is usually through the things that we don’t want to do that sometimes we grow the most.
Beauty, you must understand that you are truly a daughter of God. With that, you are heir to his kingdom. I say this because I want you to understand how VALUABLE you are. People are amazed by the Queen of England, enamored by the sight of the President and both are considered some of the most special and powerful people in the world. Yet, this is pales in comparison to being exalted as a queen in the eternities. Although you are my princess now, you will be a queen!
You are so very special to me. I know you have expressed that you feel as if you are not part of the group at times because you don’t play a sport. I apologize to you for not ensuing often enough that sports is not why I love my children. I know that I get excited talking about it, but it will never be the reason behind my love or admiration for my children. You are so talented in many ways that your brothers and sisters are not. You are, and will always be, a very smart young lady. You have a mind for learning and you take pride in your school work. You have a soft side that is so compassionate and caring. It makes my heart warm when I hear you ask me for what I need or rub my head. The one Gift I can see right now is your gift of writing and expression of thought. I know that this will help you to accomplish your mission upon this earth. It will be very interesting to read your patriarchal blessing when you decide to get it.
I hope that you have enjoyed your time at camp and that you have bonded with other girls in the stake. Your brother has set a good example of mingling with all youth from all wards. I am anticipating your return and to hear of your “adventures”.
I want you to know that I have a testimony of this truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. It is the only true church upon the face of the earth. Your talk and testimony at Dash’s baptism was so touching to me. As a parent, hearing your child give testimony as you did, is humbling and a proud moment. The only success that means anything to me is to be a good husband and a good father. One who has taught and set an example of what we must do to be an eternal family. I see my success as I watch you grow and demonstrate your own desire to be faithful. I love you and pray that you will always have a desire to live faithful so that we can be a family forever.
Have fun my Princess
With only a love that a Father can have
Dad

He is such an amazing father, your kids are so lucky to have the both of you as parents.
Oh what a great daddy. Thanks for making me cry off my makeup when I am on my way out the door to a PTSO meeting.
Sorry, but the name Mr. Incredible, isn't good enough anymore. He is beyond that. I am so so amazed at the power and love in that letter. It was perfect. She is one lucky girl to have that strength of his priesthood in her life. Thanks for sharing this. I really gained alot from it myself. I think we all need to be reminded of how wonderful we all our as a daughter of God. You are a very lucky wife too. You chose good Goose.
The letter was amazing. Look forward to reading your letter. I am sure it is not as lame as you think.
My daughter does not get along with the girls in our ward. So I have also encouraged friend ships with other girls from other wards.
By the way, how cool are you? Way cool in my book for commenting on every post. Thanks a whole bunch. Look forward to many more exchanges.
WHAT A FATHER!!! Incredible is right!!! My favorite line was, "Although you are my princess now, you will be a queen!" LOVE IT! Very tender...
WOW!! What an AMAZING man you are married to!!!! This is such a wonderful post!!!!
i was in a bad mood all day 'til now! thank you MOTHER GOOSE!!!!!!
Your family never ceases to amaze me, you have a great husband, I do also, I wish I could post fathers blessings, but ya know how that one goes, I can't wait to read yours, put yours in the book too.
Oh my goodness! I was not prepared for how wonderful that letter would be. He really is incredible. I've heard that girls adjust so much better in life when they have the love and support of their father. Looks like your kids definitely have that.
Hey, Goose, I'm back from my blogging vacation! Missed you!
what a great dad!! and what a great mom!! such blessed and fortunate kids - and they sound outstanding!
That was JUST the most amazing letter! I love how he compares peoples adoration of the queen on Englan to what is really most important, how she will someday be a queen. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
LOVE EFY!! Greatest thing ever!
I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. What a wonderful letter.
New name: Mr. Wonderfully Incredible Awesomely Greatness.
His new name? "Sir Highness of Fatherhood and clean socks" has my vote. I don't know about the clean socks, but a guy this great, I am sure they are clean.
Thanks for you opinion on EFY. I have been thinking about it, but I have not yet sent her. I guess I will next year. M
ps looking forward to your letter. Youarethebest.
I agree with every other comment here. It is how a father should talk to his daughter. They ARE all princesses, destined to be Queens. The world wants to take that from them and make them feel worthless.
Great letter and I am sure yours was as good. Do not underestimate your own ability to relate with your daughter.
Great post today!
Okay my contacts are all blurry now..thanks for the wonderful post MG~ This is so special and what a sweet letter! This is one of my fave posts of yours!! Thanks so much for sharing this!
that was amazing, words she will treasure, I remember reading my mom's letter when I was at camp and what I wouldn't give to have it now. You have preserved her letter in this blog. Go mom, you rock!
beautiful letter, beautiful daughter, wonderful dad!!
This is the kind of letter that, if received by every girl just once in her life, would most likely change the world. I'm so glad you posted it.
that is such a sweet letter. i am totally crying my eyes our right now =)
i hope your daughter treasures that letter. it makes me want to write letters to all of my kids to remind them how loved they truly are. thanks
for the inspiration =)
i think you and your family are amazing!
Oh My Goodness! What a Father he is. That is such a wonderful letter to his little Princess. That is just so sweet... How special for her to of gotten that from her Dad!
Awww what a sweet daddy, my dh is the same super pops that every girl should have!
I also didn't really mesh with the girls in my home ward growing up. I mean, they were nice enough but I wasn't real close to any of them. My daughter feels the same in our current ward. I tell her the same thing you do.
AND EFY IS DA BOMB! I sent two kid this year and they both loved it and made good friends. It's been a huge blessing for my kids to have that spiritual high for a whole week!
