Ever since I can remember we have always gone boating on the Great Sacandaga has been the source of great memories for many for many years! My grand dad would take his family out on their boat and my dad brought his and my brother now brings his! The Sacandaga Lake means Land of the waving grass! A little back history on this beautiful lake. It is tucked away in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and was known as the Sacandaga Reservoir. It is about 29 miles long and 5 miles wide.  The Sacandaga River and Hudson River caused flooding that was devastating to local businesses each spring. The Conklingville Dam was put in to prevent the flooding and the 12million was paid for by local businesses who would benefit from it, in 1930 the Sacandaga valley was flooded and upon completion of the dam over 280 billion gallons of water flooded the valley to create what we now enjoy! During the winter time the lake is used to host snowmobiling races, ice fishing, cross country skiing and snow shoeing around the lake to take in the scenery as well!

No greater place on earth than to be with my family!
