Growing up as a child I never felt privileged or that we had any more than anyone else. I think I had always known that my parents worked hard for everything they had and my mom was a stay at home mom. She supplemented for a few years just after we built the house and then after we were all in school, she worked some at the school and then at the bank. But, pretty much my parents never spent money on clothes, shoes, jewelry or flashy things. We always drove nice cars, lived in our home, which they expanded multiple times through the years and always had a boat or two and snowmobiles and four wheelers. From time to time my grandfather would go to auction and buy all the left overs and bring it to our front yard and then they would have these massive sales or he would bring home ponies and retired thorough bred race horses that used to race at the Saratoga Race track. So, fun things like that. I remember my grand dad brought me home this gorgeous old antique princess style furniture set with a sit down ornate wooden vanity! I would have loved to have that now. Anyway, your welcome for that trip down memory lane!
Food is a highlight at any of our family gatherings in NY! and for New Years Day we will usually have prime rib! YUM!! WE played games, ate, sang karaoke, ate, played pool, ate, played more games and ate some more! My brother and sister are very fit they both run marathons and work out. So, I figure we got that covered and I'll cover the creativity aspect of the family! One of my favorite things to do is Chinese lanterns and Jeff and Jessica always seem to have these at their home and they always have a lot of them! So, we went out and let go of the old and welcomed the new! The next morning Papa made breakfast for everyone and well with 10 pounds of bacon and a stack of pancakes and waffles who would argue that 2015 is going to be a spectacular year!
