BAH HUM BUG

I look forward to shopping on Black Friday every year. However, this year I was so disappointed and disgruntled. All I wanted to do was go home and guess what?? I still had money in my pocket to spend!! That is virtually unheard of. I believe I set a new precedence.

IRRITATIONS of Shopping on BLACK FRIDAY

1. Was it just me or did you all notice that the stores were uncharacteristically more crowded than they had been in the past??? I think it is do to the economy and more people seeking the better bargain?

2. WALMART- was ridiculous! I walked in, walked to the back of the store and walked out! The lines were freakin ridiculous!! I also felt a little bit scared for my safety. Anything I truly need, I will pay the extra money next week and stand in line 5 minutes than over an hour!

3. Mr. Incredible and I got pissed at each other in one store! SOOOOOooooo, ruined the entire shopping day. I had a few things in my buggy that required us standing in line for like 15 minutes! NOT BAD AT ALL!!! He said something loud and rude it had to do with what was in my cart and being able to get it any other time. I had two things in my cart that were not on sale! He said he didn't mean it towards me personally! HELLO!! I'm the one in line feeling the things in my buggy are worth the 15 minute wait! I chose them. I felt insulted. I retorted back and then he ended up getting his feelings hurt. He said, "that was rude". You want to air it out so that the entire line can hear our issue. "Bring it!". Yeah, I was not happy.

4. PEOPLE who still WRITE checks!!! what the?? This irritates me to no end. C'mon, swipe your debit card and let's go! This slowed the lines tremendously.

5. People who talk on their cell phones while attempting to drive. Most of the time you are a mediocre driver to begin with and clearly you can not handle multitasking of thinking, driving and talking!! HANG up the phone or invest in a hands free device.

6. People who embarrass others for being rude for walking in front or bumping into them and then do the same DANG thing to you!!! I watched this lady ream a boy out for accidentally bumping into her apologizing and then hearing a lecture from her. ONLY to have HER step right in front of ME! and steal my sales clerk! I so wanted to say something. But, I bit my tongue!

7. I HATE mail in rebates! These stores offering a great deal on items and then in fine print reading MAIL IN REBATE!!!

8. NOT being able to find the size or color you need!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrr

9. People shopping with their kids!! What the heck??? Are you freaking insane???
Invest in a family member, friend, or babysitter. Why on earth would you cart your children out with you on a shopping day like that?? COME ON! because then I have to listen to your children whining and crying. Which they should do and then I have to listen to you scream at your child or make stupid bargains with them. Someone ought to slap you! I volunteer to do it, free of charge!

10. Stupid sales people! If you don't know what you are talking about. SHUT UP and go find someone who does!!! and one more for good measure.

11. WE were in this department store. I was purchasing shoes. I had 3 boxes in my arm. Sales woman steps up to me and asks to assist. "No, Thank you. I will never see my boxes again, except on another woman walking out with my shoe sizes." Yeah, I'm real trusting of others. Same sales woman asks if I can check out now. "NO, I am not ready! Just leave me the heck alone!" One last futile attempt by sales woman. She scribbles her number on a post it note and says when I check out give her number to the cashier and walks out! Hello, she did not assist me in any way. She also asked that I only purchase the shoes in the shoe department! "NOT on your life. I went to the shortest line which was in the men's department and I crumpled your number.

Yep, and I still feel good enough to take sacrament! So, I hope my irritation post didn't dampen your holiday spirits! If it did, please write something uplifting so I can feel less BAH HUM BUG! Here's a good note. I am not in debt. I paid for everything in cash and I still have money left over!

Oh yeah.... I am so with you here. Especially the shoes gal. Nervy, aye?!

Also... funny how we in the East call the "carts"..."buggy's"

It's against the law here for cell phones to be used while driving. Although PLENTY of people here in CT ignore that law.

Loved this post. You wrote what we all are thinking. You and I could be shopping buddies...

Ha ha ha - writing is therapy! Poor Mr. Incredible...just kiss and make up - it's not your fault or his - it's the Black Friday Bug!

Next time you tell that line cutter where to get off at!! HOW RUDE!

Did you know that the bell ringers are taking credit cards now? In loo of change? Ha ha ha

How much more shopping do you have to do? Hope not much. This sounds like a horrible shopping trip. I don't understand parents that shop with their kids.

I see a lot of kids sitting in the cart holding their Christmas gifts. Don't they want it to be a surprise?

Hope you are feeling better. m

Wow you actually made me laugh out loud. I don't usually mean LOL when I type it. This was so true that is was FUNNY though. I couldn't agree more. I skipped black Friday this year. When I skimmed through the ads I couldn't find any deals worth getting out of bed for. I did order a couple of things online though. WAY nicer than braving the crowds. Did you hear about the Walmart worker that was killed? It's crazy!

I used to do BF every year. Not anymore. People are INSANE and frightening in Wal-mart, won't ever do tht again. I hit a few stores today, the day AFTER and got the same deals with no lines AT ALL. I must confess I had to get a couple rainchecks but apparently they get new shipments 3x/week so no problemo.

Uh OH. Sounds like you needed to be shopping with me! We missed you this year. This is two years we didn't shop together on black friday. We are starting to slip!
Sorry it was a crappy day!

I so agree with you. I am a scrooge anyway.
Hope things got better.

Amen! I'm totally with you. Which is why I don't go. And those rebates? There's a major rebate company going out of business. Some people are going to be very disappointed when there rebate checks bounce.

Yikes...I would have been ticked too! I did not brave that day. AND I am one of those annoying people who still write checks...they lost my paperwork for my debit card when we opened our account and I have been too lazy to go back in to fill it out! Go figure! LOL!

Just the frustrations of the day but over all it was a successful day!

AH, yes, this is the list I should have read first. And all of your reasons are EXACTLY why I do not get out there in that mess. And yes, I can NOT STAND for mother's to be RUDE AND YELLING at their kids! HOLY COW, nothing makes me MORE upset than to watch that. Leave them home if you cannot handle your temper with your poor children who do not want to be there in the first place!
And the salespeople that do that...give you their number and they did NOTHING to help you, oh that drives me INSANE. Do you think I am STUPID? HELLO? UM, NO!
You and your DH fighting in the store, yep, that's why we don't go together shopping!
I'll take my online shopping anyday! :-)

My gosh I wish I still had $$$ left! I wish we lived near each other... Piko and I would have made your experience so much more fun... I love waiting in line with him! Piko would have found a funny way to harass that sales associate back, dang it why must a whole continent distance us?!

I did a good deed on BF... I wanted to take all of the lap top coolers at Staples but there were only 6 but I only took 2 and assisted others with finding them. I felt like giving myself a sharing shopper award! SUPER STAR!!!

Our Wal*Mart was insane this year as well. But I still got the goods. We were able to check out in automotive since my cousin was getting a GPS. Saved loads of time.

My short stint at Target last year made me vow to NEVER write a check in a retail establishment again.

Seriously people. We live in 2008!
